I'm more concerned about next year. Thomas will be gone. Lacouture might come out early. Herron and Gilmore are draft eligible. I'm not sure if Godchaux can leave next year or not. We'll have at least 3 DT's (maybe more) coming in in our recruiting class but we're going to be really green next year.

We will have one of the best DT classes of all time in 2016 so I'm not worried.

I don't get the DT panic

We are in a better position with DT than we were last year

We return both of our starters and gain a healthier QT who was supposed to be the starter.

Those 3 will get 90% of the snaps.

If anything we should be worried about DE where we are replacing both of our starters

I'm not in a panic, but LSU is down to 6 DTs

I guarantee there is not a single team in the country that runs a 6 man rotation at defensive tackle.

Let's compare with the situation heading into 2011:

2011
- Lost both starters from 2010 (Nevis & Levingston)

Returnees:
> Downs - Light in the pants and injury-prone
> Brockers - Played in 2010, but pushed around in the interior
> DJohnson - Walk On
> Logan - Hadn't played a snap
> Davenport - Hadn't played a snap
> Ferguson - Redshirt Freshman
> AJohnson - True Freshman
> MJohnson - True Freshman
> QThomas - True Freshman

2015
- Lacouture - Returning Starter, much improved in 2014 compared to 2013
- Godchaux - Returning Starter, Freshman All-American
- QThomas - Starter in 2014 until injured
- Gilmore - Limited snaps, not impressive
- Herron - Limited snapos, not impressive
- MJohnson - Still on team?

So while our depth at D-Tackle is limited in 2015 (numbers wise), the overall outlook is much, much better than it had been at this point heading into 2011. No question losing TreyL, Valentine, and Bain thinned the ranks. Gotta hope our starters stay healthy - so the unproven guys are not expected to take on starters' minutes.

But those guys aren't going to be playing in Green Bay in 13 months against Wisconsin either. If they are then we're in a lot of trouble for that game.

Yeah but against Wisconsin in 2016, we will still have Lacouture and Godchaux (in their 3rd year as starters). Herron and Gilmore will still be around as well. We may need one of the 2015 true freshmen to get some minutes immediately, but not expected.

The tempo and amount of plays that Barn runs will answer any and all questions win or lose.

Gilmore hasn't showed much of anything and neither has Herron. Thomas is always hurt and is still hurt I think. We're very thin past the starters unless both Gilmore and Herron can take a big jump in maturity.

Nice to be having concerns about the back-ups and not the starters. We should have more concern about areas where we don't have questionable starters--like DE. I do give you credit for not ruling out that Herron and Gilmore can make a jump. Logan and Brockers came out of nowhere...both were Defensive Ends in high school.

I already said many times on here I don't think the defensive line is going to be that good again this year as it has been a problem the past 2 years. Injuries are going to happen and outside Godchaux, we really don't have anyone that looks like a potential stud that we've seen so far. DEs are going to struggle on containment assignments and the first team that will exploit it will be MSU. They're going to run right at the DEs.

We barely rotated defensive lineman last year and that speaks volumes at how immature our DL depth was. You guys love to compare the 2011 line with this one but the year before that we still rotated like 10-12 DL. It's unrealistic to think we'll have that line again this year especially since Chavis/Haley apparently got extremely lazy on the dl recruiting the past few years. The only one they seemed to hit on was Godchaux so far. LaCouture is OKAY but he's not a great DT. He got overpowered way too much last year.

Going to take awhile for Coach O to sort through this mess we have right now but I'm sure when the dline struggles the idiots on here will be calling for his head already. I'd be happy with a 3 loss season for LSU this year because I don't think they're going to be very good. Next year is a different story. We should be mature enough to be the best SEC team.
