Why isn't Scivicque getting any love from the draft experts?

Haven't seen him on any top 100 list but he was named to the all-sec defense team and is batting .363 and has some power. Is his defense overrated or is there something I am missing that is keeping him from being looked at as a top prospect?

On a 1-10 scale for defense I'd put him around a 7...good but not great. He might go Top 10 rounds being a senior but he wont get a huge chunk of change if he's drafted in that 8-10 range.

Keep in mind Top 100 prospect is elite of elite, and includes international and high school players on top of ALL college players (JUCO included).

Yeah his numbers and credentials are as good as anybody on that list but remember it's about potential more than anything

He runs like he's in quicksand and he's 4th year player. He'll be a good late pick up for someone.

Thirty MLB teams total, so top 3 rounds are 90 plus 10 to get to 100...yes I know there are compensatory picks, etc, but you get my point. Kade will get a chance.

Probably because he looks like Tom Berenger from Major League.

that's generally irrelevant for a catcher

I just hate opinions from average fans, especially when they are negative.

My son played against him in high school. He was a really good pitcher also. He was great in high school, Kade was the MVP at the state all star game. He was great in JC and now great at LSU. This young man has proven to be the best at every level so far. I really hope he makes it to the Majors. He gives all the kids around here hope that you can make it to LSU even if you play at a class B or class C school

Top 100? No, man. Just no.

And Kade is one of my favorite guys of the last couple years, but catching in the major leagues is a different animal. He has the heart and will, but that's tough. Being a senior will also hurt his draft stock.

Think of all the great catchers we've had over the years. Have we ever had a guy play in the majors? Honestly, I don't remember.

He's not a major league catcher, my scale is based upon major league projection. A major league starting catcher defensively would be a 9-10...MAYBE an 8 for a backup catcher if absolutely great offensively. A 7 is right below that. Kade is a very good college player, but I would be shocked if one day he was in the majors as a starting catcher. Maybe could get on as a spot C and some DH, but that's likely his best hope.

Making the majors is NOT easy, especially as a catcher where defensive is by far and large very very important. MLB teams will never give you a spot if you allow a decent percentage of guys to steal on you.

Because he's a senior. He's got zero leverage.
