Kyle Phillips was never coming here, and Mack was a longshot at best. I haven't followed Lewis closely enough to be aware of what he's doing. ..

Smart prospects don't commit to a school because of a coordinator

and if people are really that worried about recruiting, why are they freaking out so much about Brick possibly being the new DC?

Do you really want a DC who sucked previously at that spot and is at best a mediocre DL coach?

Great, he can get us what, a year or two of decent recruits before no one wants to come here because our defense is a disaster again. Les' internal hires have been shite.

Man I'm sure many fans haven't slept in days. Personally if I were a player I'd just take orders from whoever is at the top and kick arse and don't worry about who is leading while keeping my mouth shut.

Give the job to Haley. Time to hire someone new with new innovative ideas and different approach that will yield better results on the field and off the field. College football is getting like the NFL with the same names moving from position to position, time to end this never ending carousel ride.Tradition is good and sound but new and younger ideas are the future. Embrace it!

So the main person who will help their development doesnt matter to recruits?

Keep telling yourself that.

He specifically said with Chavis we were his favorite. Without him he's not even considering us.

If you cant understand the importance of coaches with recruiting then you clearly just don't get it.

And I think you're underestimating it's value. It's definitely a step up and looks great on a resume for coordinators with higher aspirations... if successful of course. Of course rantards expectations are far overblown and overestimated, but it's still a prestigious job nonetheless.

I don't believe LSU will hire coach O.

Agreed.

Nor should we.

If he was so good and such a hot commodity why is he without a job and hasn't had one in over a year?

Back to the original question. We shouldn't be.

Everyone things that whatever name has been rumored to be be the front runner has turned down LSU doesn't really know. Les may have declined to make an offer, after meeting in person the two philosophies may be not have agreed and mutually decided it would be best, or the candidate may have thought that LSU wasn't the best fit for him and declined.

We just don't know. There are no "insiders" giving any credible information. I do feel as though when the dust settles Les will pick a good defensive coordinator who wants to be at LSU and move the program in a positive direction.

I think it is, and I may be underestimating it. But these diehard fans don't help that's for sure

Unfortunately our fan base is one that isn't appeased easily

half of our fan base is appeased easily, the other half isn't. If every one was so appeased easily then we wouldn't have risen to the power that we have been since 2000. Expectations are part of being a championship program. The DC hire is a huge hire, its not that we don't have one right now its that the best two possible choices have told us no for whatever reason. Its highly embarrassing that pedo state can outbid us.

Considering Chavis was not a primary recruiter I'm not sure what kind of impact it will have their.

Also I would much rather take the time and gain a better coach if it meant losing a recruit or two.

Agreed and I'm believe that is better for the long haul. I'd rather take the little extra time seeing the bigger picture so that we can hire someone that will stay hopefully for as long as chavis did here and successful at that. If that means losing a few recruits for one season then it will be worth it

Because it's the most important coaching position on the staff. We win games with Defense. When you offense is the joke of college football, you kind of need a bad arse on the other side of the ball to counter that lack of production.

the main person who will help their development is their position coach...not the coordinator drawing up plays
