Mack is a head case who enjoys the limelight way too much. You put way too much stock into what recruits say to the public.

Mack was never leaving Texas.

No shite. Miles isn't going anywhere. Or Brick. Or Raymond. A DC is one of many reasons to consider which team to sign with.

yeah...its the chicken little, over emotional, uber negative portion of the fanbase that made LSU so great

ts not that we don't have one right now its that the best two possible choices have told us no for whatever reason.

or LSU told them no

I understand but there is no need to be in melt down mode about it.

Personally if I were a player I'd just take orders from whoever is at the top and kick arse and don't worry about who is leading while keeping my mouth shut.

So if you're at 4-3 DT and the new DC is a 3-4 guy, it wouldn't make a difference to you? Idiot.

Just how heavy is Les' water at this point?

but yeah, I agree, its call due diligence
Thats what you call this, due diligence? We haven't had anyone say yes, it has nothing to do with "due diligence"

Maybe I still have a soldier mentality, and I haven't kept up with the trending times.

This...and only this.

Oh...and also this.

What we have are the typical posters hopping up and down mad about the entire process they are, quite clearly, not even privy to. Go figure.

Want to complain? Why not wait until LSU actually makes a god damned hire first? Or does someone here think all their gnashing of teeth about the process is somehow going to alter the behavior of any of those in charge of making the actual fricking call here?

and if people are really that worried about recruiting, why are they freaking out so much about Brick possibly being the new DC? most of the recruits already have a relationship with Brick

So in your opinion would you say Brick is a good hire for DC? Mine is it would be awful.

Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marines? Because even soldiers know what system they want to be in. If you want to be a ranger you don't sign up for the Air Force.

See the correlation?

Guys, the Miles clause should be forgotten. This is something that all major universities are doing to avoid the same situation as Tennessee. They are still paying coaches from Kiffin's disaster regime. Tennessee is still paying coaches that haven't been on staff for years, because of a lack of a "Miles" clause. I for one would be pretty happy if my job told me that if I leave or get fired, they would continue to pay for 6 months

Fair enough.

A 3-4 DT is going to be a fat-arse, Jaba the Hut like creature a la Terrence Cody. He basically takes up space and receives double teams. In a 4-3 scheme, the DTs are going to be big (not quite as bit) and more athletic. They are similar but ultimately have different roles within the defense. A recruit would be wise to choose a school with a philosophy that fit his playing style. If you were a huge, hulking LB (for instance) you might not want to play for Chief - he likes smaller, faster LBs. If you are a lockdown type corner, you should choose a school that runs a lot of man coverage like Bama and/or LSU.

This is why it's important to name the DC. FYI

The convention is next week. There will be hundreds of coaches looking to make a change. LSU, Tech and NWST are open at DC. There is no panic.
