Listening to ESPN BR this morning and Gordy said he spoke with a friend of his on the AU coaching staff and said that whole staff was blown away that LSU lined up under center and in the I-Form. They fully expected them to run the spread and tried to thin AU out.

I get we're young and NFL attrition has hurt us, and I expected us to struggle, but to not utilize the talent you do have us beyond me.

I don't think you'll find even the most ardent sunshine pumper defending our current scheme. I-form, no screen game/play action is the most befuddling part of all of it.

Thats because Les Miles out-witted the entire AU staff.

I don't know why they'd be blown away by this. They had game film. They knew the HC they were dealing with. None of this should've come as any surprise at all.

We have every player we need to run a spread. We have a qb who can excel in the read option. And a second backup. We have multiple rbs that are great in space. We have a blazing fast receiver that makes them respect the post. We have 3 more solid receivers. We literally have every single thing we need. Our line is not even suited for a power I. All signs SCREAM spread.

It's inexplicable.

Good Point. I bet Malzahn cringed watching Harris run the I formation knowing the things he could accomplish with that kid.

Did the LSU offense work on any "spread" formations during the spring? Probably not.

They may be attempting to install some spread formations in the offense right now...and it's probably looking like the KeyStone cops in practice.

This should have been a focus during the spring. Changing offensive philosophies now is a little too late.

That's a huge deal. Really.

If Harris had been starting for Auburn this week, it's possible that the blowout would have been worse.

I don't fault Les for running a pro style offense, it has worked throughout his tenure, but I do blame him for recruiting players that do not fit that system. If we are going to run a pro style offense, recruit players to run that offense, don't recruit dual threat QB's.

The problem is we cannot execute a simple offense, so lets give more reads, checks and formations.. that'll work.... you don't give algebra to 5th graders..

I'll add a offensive line coach whose background is spread and utilizes zone blocking schemes. We even ran off the two pro style qbs we had. There is no method to the madness. If you build your roster based on spread personnel it should stand to reason you run a spread offense.

Harris will be a very good pro-style QB.

Nick Marshall won't make it into the league as a QB...Harris will be a 2nd rounder (minimum).
