Still waiting on your cherry picked list of the top college QBs over the past decade. I bet it'll be hard to find more than 1 player at a school over the past 10 years, especially ones that fit your 300 ypg passing. Guys like McCoy and Bradford don't come along every day....and even then don't put up numbers playing against SEC defenses.

Include their defensive ppg rank and W/L record and you'll have your answer as to why LSU plays ball control offense.

Also, a state like Louisiana is loaded with top RB talent and not so much QB talent. Why play to your weaknesses instead of your strengths? LSU wins games. If you'd rather have a video game offense go cheer for Houston.

Very easy answer. If you were a 5 star qb would you play for Les Miles at LSU? Your crazy to he never throws the ball. I always wondered why we can't recruit great qb s because there going somewhere that throws the ball. It's hard to bitch because we are winning. It's not a sexy style of football and we would be so much more dominating If we threw it more often but Les ain't changing. I wish he would throw it more so we could recruit a blue chip qb but I love Lsu and I would never play qb there. The offense doesnt showcase your ability.

I don't think this has happened since 2008.

define "settle". Also, what course of action would you suggest that is not currently being taken by LSU fans?

what is bitching about it going to do? You have no choice but to settle with whatever les puts on the field.

Passing ypg for the last 4 BCS NC:
Matt Flynn - 200.6
Tim Tebow - 196.1
Greg McElroy - 179.1
Cam Newton - 203.9

All these guys must suck then because they can barely average over 200 ypg.

I never said that a good QB has to average 300 yards a game like the OP did, dumbass.

But I think its safe to say that every QB you listed is better than JJ or JL.

I think you misunderstand the game. If a team has a one dementional passing attack and when that team finds themselves up by 23 points what would you have them do?
1) start running the ball to eat up the clock like Baylor did against TCU
2) Let your vaulted defense take over like ND did yesterday.
Or
3) Keep passing because you do not have a power running game to eat up the clock and you do not have a defense that can take over and demoralize your opponent.

The difference is those teams can't change because the other team could mount a comeback so these teams you speak of uses the passing game as their Defense.

You see those teams have no other choice but to keep passing because of the lack of quality they have in the OL, RB, DL, DB, LB, Special Teams and of course in the type of athletes they have on the team. To quote Chip Kelly "They (LSU) have a different type of athlete out there......". Just like Bobby Fisher, Miles has a complete understanding of every facet of the game to be able to whip any team by using any one or combination of his teams components. Every chess player has their favorite pieces, but it is the one who can use all pieces proficiently that wins against those one dimensional players (Chip Kelly). LSU is not a one dimensional team thus the best athletes line up for a chance to play for coach who will use them to the best of their abilities in the best stadium in college football on a Saturday Night.

I never referenced 300 ypg in my response to you. My point was to show that all we need out of JL is about 200 ypg, especially with our powerful RBs.

Never said JL or JJ are even with those guys, but its not like LSU hadn't had some good QBs in the past few years like the OP suggested.

LSU has signed 2 since Miles has been at LSU. That's 2 out of 17 5* QB prospects. One got kicked off the team and the other was converted to WR. If he was in fact better than JJ or JL, then that wouldn't have happened.

It's not like LSU can sign a 5* every other year. USC, Notre Dame, Arkansas, and UF are the only other schools who signed 2 5* over the same period. no schools signed 3.

If you like flashy offenses that pass for 300 yards a game minimum, then GTFO of the SEC.

Be a Hawaii fan. Their QB threw for 5000 yards last year. And yet they couldn't beat the Huskies yesterday...

It seems to me that Florida or Alabama or other SEC schools have no problems blowing away non-conference cup cake teams 72-10, 65-3 or whatever, but for some reason LSU has a problem doing the same. I don't get it.

I don't think Les is into blowout games that much. Doesn't strike me as being his style.

The stats don't compare brah. The guys that I mentioned wipe the floor with LSU QBs when it comes to numbers.

I am not talking championships here which is more of a team effort.

I am just asking you guys if we ever had offenses or QBs at LSU that put up huge numbers regularly?

WE DON'T GIVE A shite ABOUT QB STATS! WE WANT CHAMPIONSHIPS!

College QBs around the country regularly throw for over 300-350 yards and 3-4 touchdowns with seeming ease every week, where as LSU fans seem to be content when the QB reaches 200 yards.

I'm content with winning football games. If that means we run it 50 times, so be it. If we have to pass to win, I want to be able to do that competently. Passing for 400 yards and losing is still losing.

The quarterbacks look better than last year. I'll take the improvement so far. The young receivers look to be improving already. Coupled with our OL and running game, we will be in every game and will win 8 to 10 of the remaining regular season games. I'm happy.
