at the time the rushmore carvings began, there had been 29 presidents including coolidge who was president at the time the carvings began. 4 faces on rushmore/29 presidents.

if we are going to do the 'rushmore' of LSU football it has to be some proportionately correct amount in my opinion. i have no idea how many LSU football players there have been. but im assuming i could stay in the proportionate amount by including all of these:

faulk, casanova, cannon, dorsey, tittle, peterson, just to name a few.....

Maybe the Honey Badger could be the Crazy Horse of the monument. Brilliant in concept and design, larger than life, great vision, but incomplete.

I honestly think it would just be rbs. Cannon, Taylor, Alexander, Hilliard, Faulk, Fournette (in due time). Take your pick at any 4. We've had other great players, but those rbs made their teams and a couple almost won the heisman and 1 did. I feel like most people know about Cannon, Hilliard, Faulk, and Fournette so I'll add some info on Taylor and Alexander.

On Taylor:
"During the two seasons Jim Taylor played for the Louisiana State University Tigers (1956 and 1957), he became the first player in history to lead the SEC in rushing for two consecutive years. Taylor was also the first fullback in LSU history to earn All-America honors. He was named LSU's and the Senior Bowl's MVP and was inducted into the LSU Hall of Fame in 1957."

On Alexander:
Charles Alexander, a two-time All-American and Heisman Trophy finalist who played at LSU from 1975-78, has been named to the prestigious College Football Hall of Fame, it was announced by the National Football Foundation on Tuesday.
Before there was Herschel Walker or Bo Jackson, there was Charles Alexander. The MVP of the Southeastern Conference in 1977, he set nine SEC records and tied for another. At the end of a stellar career that included a pair of All-America and All-SEC honors, his name sat atop 27 LSU records. In two bowl games, he was responsible for 330 yards. He rushed for more than 150 yards on nine occasions and twice topped the 200-yard mark during his LSU career.

LSU has retired only two numbers in football. 20- Billy Cannon and 37- Tommy Casanova. Any list that does not contain these two is suspect IMO. I think by season's end, Fournette will be a lock. That will leave one other spot. I would disqualify Mathieu but you could argue that I guess. I think it then boils down to a fairly short list.

This is my short list for the remaining slot, in no particular order YA Title, Jim Taylor, Kevin Faulk, Dalton Hilliard, Tommy Hodson, JaMarcus Russell, Glen Dorsey, Bogger McFarland, and Patrick Peterson.

Faulk is my pick for the fourth slot.

Cannon, Casanova, Faulk, Fournette(barring anything unexpected).

I'm a huge TM fan, but having 1 incredible year then getting kicked out of school eliminated you from this list.

I mean it was only pot and Les should have given him 25 chances to quit instead of the final 24th.

I swear some of you people would justify bullying of handicapped children if certain lsu football players did it.

With that said the answer is Peterson, Cannon, Casanova and by year's end Fornette

Cannon can be called into the character discussion. Mathieu has never been to prison.
