Who is on your Mt. Rushmore of LSU Football
Posted by LSUZombie on 9/28/15 at 6:45 pm129
Cannon - Mathieu - Dorsey - Peterson
As of right now this would be mine, but I could make an argument for Kevin Faulk and also Leonard Fournette but who do you take off and why?

Hodson, Alexander, Dorsey, Peterson (as of now)

I have trouble putting a guy that got kicked off the team. Love him.....but c'mon.
I can't disagree with that but the year he had was one of the best ever for any player to wear the LSU uniform. Hard to leave him off.

Cannon - Anderson - Casanova - Faulk - Dorsey
My initial criteria included multiple All American awards. Faulk is a single year and I have him a little ahead of Dorsey and Tinsley (who is the only multiple not represented on my list).
A single year All American (Peterson or Mathieu) has a tough row to hoe. Chad Lavalais was the only All American on the 2003 BCS champs and was a consensus pick. Mathieu was that guy in 2011, while Peterson was unanimous All American in 2010.
Roy Winston was a unanimous pick, as was Nacho Albergamo.
Mere contention for the Heisman - or even being what I refer to as "the most dynamic, game-changing defensive player I ever saw in person, possibly excepting Derrick Thomas" - is not enough for such lofty, legendary status.
I agree that DTs and OL are boring. Yet, Dorsey has a spot because he was 2x AA and won all kinds of national awards.
But why Mathieu and not Faneca, for example? Why Peterson over one of my choices, Kevin Faulk? I'm putting Faulk on there because he was the single most important recruit in LSU history.
Faulk is the difference between where we are today, and being USCe. Or Arkansas over the last 20 years. Or aTm. Faulk staying home and doing what he did laid the foundation for Saban, 2003, Miles and 2007. And he stayed all 4 years. And Houston.
Just a lot of things.

Lol @ leaving off Casanova
He is my only guaranteed lock. The other three spots are up for grabs. Is character considered or just what they did on the field? I'd keep it just on the field and not let Cannon or Mathieu's issues worry my choice.

The one that has a tie for 4th place.
If I have to drop 1 - it's Anderson, but it would be tough. Same argument as Tinsley - LB is a boring position - until you don't have a great one.
