When: I think it was 1970 or thereabouts ( I was about 8)

Why: Because somebody made a killer song about the arse raping in that game

Was probably a fan sooner but that pretty much cemented it

ETA IT was against Archie Manning

I’ve been a fan since I was a sophomore in high school (93). I was born and raised in Oklahoma; however I have family in Louisiana. Every summer my cousin would come up and stay with our grandparents for a month or so. She started dating a guy a few months before she came up (her junior year). One day after baseball practice I went to visit, and she had a “present”. When she handed it to me, she said “____wanted me to give this to you…..at least it matches your school colors”, she then handed me an LSU hat. They’re married now, and later on I found out he is the nephew of the late Jeff Boss. We actually met Jeff in 2001 after LSU played Arkansas; we went to his house after the game and had dinner. He had no clue who we were (my girlfriend and I), but it didn’t matter to him. LSU lost a great man when he passed away.

1971 LSU VS Notre Dame game, been hooked ever since at 8 years old and ticket holder since the early 90's of the Curley Hallman days when tickets were abundant. I remember the Help Mac pack days and let Curley go early.

Dec. 5, 1970 LSU 61 Ole Miss 17 on ABC national tv with Chris Schenkel and Lee Grosscup.
Song was called "Archie Who at LSU"

Off the top of my head, let's see if I can remember some of the lyrics:

"Archie Who, Archie Who, you were tiger bait..
Archie Who, Archie Who, we said at LSU..."

later in the song.....

"Casanova, Cascio and Anderson, just nipping...at his jaw."

"It was the most points ever scored, by either team. At the end the scoreboard said LSU 61
Ole Miss 17."

"We're coming for YOU, Archie."

It was 1998 and I had just moved to Baton Rouge for my job. Some ugly red headed woman (not fat) at work said that she had inherited season tickets and wondered if I would like to go with her. After much consultation with established LSU fans and deliberation between my ears, I decided to chance it...I mean frick, I didn't know anybody in the town.

The red head had a crew that she partied with; so I got the full tailgaiting experience. The food, drink, crowd and game were a total blast...and after my resistance had worn down the woman took me home to her house to spend the night.

I was hooked! Afterwards, people at work thought we were dating because I used the ugly red head for her tickets the remainder of the season.

The following year I found an even uglier blonde that could lay some 5th row East 35 yd line Tiger Stadium seats on me!!!

Ugly women...ya gotta love em.

Being a born and raised Iowan, I get this question very often.

I became an avid LSU fan in 2001. My dad does business with a guy in Tennessee. He graduated from LSU and suggested that he take my little brother and me to a game in 2001. I will be forever grateful. We flew to Louisiana, and I had my first experience inside Tiger Stadium in a game against Eli Manning and Ole Miss. The Tigers lost that game, but I have been a die hard ever since.

Trips to Tiger Stadium have been made in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2011 and 2012.

I wish I could get down to Baton Rouge more often, but I take what I can get.

Dad (BA & MS @ LSU) - Mike I's first student caretaker ---He bough four (4) season tickets in 1950. I still have the same seats. Wish I had a tickets from way back then. I do remember prices in the 80's being around $18 or so.

My Grandparents' home was at 411 S. Division Street. My grandmother's half-sister Versie Olds lived next door. Some years later, my Mom and Dad moved back to DeRidder where they ran "The Nursery" until Wal-Mart closed them down. Yours would have to be towards the Cemetery from us. My brother, Johnny Faulkner, lived in DeRidder for a while. I remember meeting Mel Branch at his Dad's (Dallas Branch) grocery store one time when we were visiting DeRidder. Mel played football at LSU. If you live in St. Pete, you are across the State of florida from me (just south of Cocoa in Rockledge). I am amongst about a handful of LSU fans here I know of. Geaux Tigers.

I grew up watching games on tv with my family who were all Tiger fans but not of the diehard variety. Even went to my first game in 1981 a lose to John ( motherfricking ) Bond and Mississippi State. But it was the magically 1982 team that made me fall in love with LSU football. Alan Risher, James Britt, Dalton Hilliard, Gary James, Herman Fontonot, Eric Martin, Rydell Malancon I could go on and on. Till this day even with the success of the last 13 years and 2 national championships this will always be my favorite team.

I was born a Tiger.

Dad went to school there & lived in the South Stadium Dorms before he left to join the Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. Years later, when I was a boy, my mom worked at the office of veterans affairs in Boyd Hall. We had season tickets as long as I could remember and grew up going to games & tailgating in front of the Vet School.

My first game was September 26, 1987 (3 years old) with my Dad to see LSU vs. Ohio State, which ended in a 13-13 tie. My family never missed a game, and as I got older, my mom quit going to games & me or my oldest brother would take the extra ticket and go with Dad. I got my hatred for Alabama from my father due to the fact that he had been to every LSU/Alabama game since the early 60's (with the exception of his 4 years in the Air Force) and had never seen LSU win.

Like idiots, they got rid of the season tickets during the Hallman era, and I only attended games here and there until I finally became a freshman at LSU, where I never missed a game in my 5 years there.

Now, living in Houston, I try to get back for at least one game a year. It will always be home to me.
