Can't remember NOT being an LSU fan. Of course, when you're as ancient as I am, it's hard to remember yesterday.
My parents weren't big LSU fans (they were from N.O.) but they had good friends from Westwego that were absolute nuts. Drove 735 mph every Saturday up the river to watch the Tigers. I was on their wavelength and picked up the Tiger fever early.
Went to a few games as a kid. Loved Labruzzo, Grezaffi, etc. Kept a scrapbook of game writeups for several years. Took my boys to games when they got old enough to appreciate it.
Now I love the baseball & football Tigers equally. Not as avid a fan of basketball.
Living very far away from Tiger Stadium & Alex Box, I long to return and join in the madness. Luckily, I get to see most games remotely. But I miss the tailgating.

Let me know when they dig up that time capsule. I left a perfectly good 1853 Enfield musket in there.

Birth.
Second generation Tiger on my Dad's side, third generation on my Mom's side.
Grew up in the Garden District, an easy bike ride to football, basketball or baseball games.
Don't remember my first game, as I was in diapers, but my first vivid memories include the '94 Mardi Gras collapse against Kentucky in the PMAC and Bring Back the Magic Night against Auburn in '95.
Never even considered going anywhere else for college and I don't regret it one fricking bit.

1959. Liked the ability of Billy Cannon. Admired the "Chinese Bandits" and the new substitution rule. The O was potent and the D was very fast to the football. I was hooked & lived in PA.

I have the experience etched in my memory, but I'm not sure of the exact year. I know it was either 1986 or 1987 (I was 4 or 5 at the time). LSU vs Georgia. The first LSU game that I have memory of seeing on TV.
I think it was 1987. I know it was a national broadcast so if one of those games wasn't nationally televised, I guess I could figure out the exact year by process of elimination.
I had developed some kind of fascination with bulldogs as a young child, so when I heard that the Bulldogs were playing the Tigers, I wanted the Bulldogs to win.
My grandfather came over to watch the game, and when he caught wind that I was rooting for the Bulldogs, he scolded me a bit with something like --Boy you're from Louisiana, you're supposed to be a LSU fan. And, of course I agreed with Papa, and was a LSU fan ever since.
ETA: I found the 1987 game thanks to rnolan53 on Youtube. Nice archive of condensed LSU games on that channel.
Anybody remember if the 1986 game was nationally televised or not?

i was sitting in a bar after breaking up with the love of my life (at that time) and two of my friends in high school that were a year older than me came in and asked me where i was going to college (yes, the drinking age was sorta 18 at that time). i told them i wasn't sure and they began to sell me on LSU (where they were freshmen). it worked. after a coupla more beers i decided on the spot to go to LSU. my sights had actually been lower due to the costs of attending away from home but i went anyway and paid for it myself. this decision, made with an alcohol soaked brain while feeling sorry for myself for a chick dumping me, turned out to be one of the best decisions i ever made. that was over 45 years ago and i laugh at how that happened even today. LSU was perfect for me and i have to say god takes care of fools and drunks. (i was the drunk just so you know).

I married into the LSU family. I am a University of Utah Alum. My wife went to LSU her two uncle played football at LSU and when they took me to my first LSU game it was an awakening! Love the fans...the team and the state. Call me lucky I guess.

My mother said the most she ever felt me move in her belly was during the earthquake game. I was born shortly after.

My mother's best friend was in her mother's belly in Tiger Stadium during Billy Cannon's Halloween punt return. She went into labor shortly thereafter

My parents met there. Both graduated from there and my Dad taught there for over 30 years and was Distinguished Alumni Professor of the year back in the mid 70's.
Went to home games beginning at age 6, graduated from there and from med school in Shreveport.
