This is the exact thing we do in my office. I was only in the office for 2 hours on Wednesday. Finished my last 1040 at 1030 on Tuesday morning. Nothing good can come of rushing to finish returns that get brought in at the last minute. Just asking for mistakes, IMO. ...

So LA is considered your tax home? All my clients that have foreign earned income are considered residents of that particular country...so they pay Fed tax on any amounts above and beyond the exclusion and Foreign tax credit. ...

I live in Iowa so I am not familiar with individual income taxes in Louisiana. So Louisiana essentially accrues the Federal income tax for the year and allows that to be deducted? In Iowa you deduct the amount of Federal income tax paid during the year. ...
