Could not agree more and never implied otherwise. I just think its cool to hear peoples stories about how they came into it, their LSU pedigree etc. In fact, in my op I referred to the earlier "grad vs non-grad" threads as stupid.

Guess a few people misunderstood me. This is in good fun. The idea that you need to attend to be a "real" fan is ridiculous.

My wife and I are both natives of New Orleans, and both of us received our bachelor's degrees from LSU.

Dad and uncle played for LSU in the 60's. Both graduated.

Went to LSU games as a kid. Lived in Huntsville, AL during the late 80's and 90's. (Thank God for LSU basketball and baseball)

Been a season ticket holder since 99.

Wow! I think you just summed it up perfectly.
No need for a list. And now that I think about it, I know alumni who DON'T adhere to your advice. Hmm.. Degrees don't mean squat. Real fans check the schedule before making plans. LOVE IT.

Been a fan as long as I can remember...

I live in Louisiana, therefore I'm a LSU Tiger fan!

I grew up in Baton Rouge and my grandfather was associated with LSU basketball during the beginning of the Dale Brown era. He actually coached several of LSU's stars from the 80s in AAU. I remember Anthony and Nikita Wilson eating Thanksgiving dinner at my house and playing basketball in the back with my brother and I. Well, Daddy Dale started becoming Dirty Dale and they had a falling out over drinks one night.

I am still a big basketball fan to this day and became friends with Ronald Dupree by way of both being engineering students. It sickens me to see what Trent Johnson has done to this program, but I hope he proves me wrong some day soon.

I did get my BS in ME from LSU.

I know some who don't know who, when or where we are playing. Being an Alum definitely doesn't justify fandom.

My mother and father met as freshmen and married during their last year.
My father got his masters there (Ph. D. at Iowa state)
My mother got her B.S. there.
My brother got his B.S. there.
Multiple nieces and nephews are alums
I am an alum of undergrad and med school.
My father taught there from '43 to '76, was a full professor for 29 years, and was Alumni Professor of the Year in the 70's and was instrumental in getting the retirement system established at L.S.U. for faculty.
I attended games from the time I was 6 years old on season tickets in the South upper deck; total cost of 4 season tickets: 24 dollars!!

I grew up with LSU by ushering LSU and Tulane games with the boy scouts and loved Tiger football. I remember laying in bed on Saturday nights as early as 1957 listening to every LSU football I didn't get to attend. 1958 was a special year. I knew the names of all the players on the White Team, Go Team (GEAUX) and Chinese Bandits.

I hated that I couldn't afford to go to school at LSU, but I followed the team faithfully. Every now and then someone would take me to an LSU game -- a very special treat. I was hooked and I consider myself to be a very dedicated tiger fan. I wish my family and I were alums of LSU, but it wasn't to be.

That's a fan right there. I think we all agree now attending LSU has less to do with being a fan than growing up following LSU.

I did some undergrade work there before going to OT School then later PA school at LSU's Medical center in Shreveport. I was doing undergrad during the Halman suckeggs era.

Let's see family degrees from LSU include. Two of mine, Mom has one, aunt has one, uncle has two, and have several cousins with them.
Oh, and my grandmother worked in the library for 17 years.
My first game was against Ohio State in 85 I believe. We lost on a last minute field goal. Mom and dad met at LSU and we listened to every game on the radio or watched on TV since I was a toddler.

Hmmm this was a refreshing change from the JJ threads.

i'm a self made LSU fan. dad graduated U of Houston. mom UNO. neither care about sports.

much more of a saints fan growing up. started liking LSU for basketball in the 80's and a little football. didn't go to my first LSU football game till i was 12.

but when i got here i was hooked. graduated LSU in 99, my freshman year was hallman's last yr.

i wasn't born into championships like these young 'uns.

so i appreciate them more.

so for the TLDR crowd.

---no family link so i'm self made.
---became a rabid fan before the golden age of football.
---LSU alum

i'm pretty much awesome.

I came to LSU from another country. Didn't even know LSU had football team, didn't even understand the sport much. But one season made me a fan, even during DiNardo's time.

So when my kids, grand kids, and their kids go to LSU, they'll know who to thank.

Grandfather kicked it off. Class of '39. Bought his first season tickets when he got back from WWII. Bought season tickets for the family in the south endzone when it was built, on the same row w/ his neighbor who did the same. Over 50 years later, the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of those two guys still sit next to each other in the same seats.

made it to every home game from 1982 to 1995 when i went out of state to college. When my grandfather died a couple of years ago, we found the program from my first LSU game, complete w/ "First LSU Game!" scrawled across it in black marksalot.
