If we win out we’re in the playoff.

What criteria did they outline tonight?

Player injuries
(re: Kelly Bryant & Clemson)
LSU has been played with a tattered D-Line almost all year and Arden is just now getting into shape.

Wins
Auburn. Syracuse looks better. Opportunities for Alabama, A&M and Georgia.

What have you done lately?
Biggest question for LSU coming in was how much would the committee punish them for Troy. Turns out not that much. They’ve taken the losses into a context of the season as a whole like they did with their inclusion of injuries into their formula. New coach, new OC, injuries to DL, Arden, Guice. Since we’re 3-0 with our last 7 quarters outscoring AUB & OM 67-27. Derrius, Arden & our DL are back now.

I agree.. We win out, and we are definitely in.. Beating #1 AND #2 including the SEC Championship game leaves nothing to chance.. Now will that happen? Wouldn’t bet a dime on it but I’m gonna ride reguardless

Why do y’all do this to yourselves every year? Forget the playoffs.

Why do y'all think we get if we were to win out? I don't think y'all realize how bad our not one but two losses were. No way the committee puts LSU in the top 4 when there will be other teams with one loss. It's not happening.

I love the enthusiasm on the board but I'm just over here praying my +21.5 holds up

Pretty insightful, actually. I was really surprised at some of the ranks, tbh.

But, I agree. Win and in.

If we win out, a one loss Alabama is in the playoff, not SEC Champion LSU.

Hell, they will take a 1 loss Bama AND a 1 loss Georgia before they take a team that has 2 losses, one of which was at home to Troy.

Yes it would suck and when t happens it would perfectly reasonable to call the integrity if the playoff into question.

But we are not getting in. Period.
If we win out just be happy with being SEC champions. That’s the most we could possibly get this year.

Well, I'm not so certain as some of the other posters in this thread, but there's definitely a possibility.

An 11-2 team which has two wins over top-5 teams?

or

A 12-1 (or 11-1) team which may have zero wins over top-5 teams?

There's a human element at play with the committee. Bottom line: if they think LSU is the better team, they will put them in. There's not as much automation and "lack of imagination" as there was with the BCS era.

They will have to answer the question of whether a two-loss team with two extremely quality wins deserves to be in. They can't just ignore it.

Currently, there is no precedent for that situation in the CFP era.

Since everyone on here in so confident LSU gets in the playoffs if they win out, name your bet and price

Anything. LSU will not jump Ohio st, OU, Notre Dame, Clemson, and probably not Washington. Hell, even a 1 loss Bama might get in over LSU.

I don't disagree with your assessment with one exception.

"win out and we are in the playoff". Maybe. LSU will need a lot of help. Im not saying it could never happen but a 2-loss team with one of those being to Troy would be a tough sell to the committee. I realize it would mean several good wins but thats a lot to overcome.

The committee always says it’s job is to take the 4 best teams. Finishing with an 8 game winning streak with 2 of those wins coming vs their initial #1 and #2 teams would absolutely meet that criteria.

However, the committee sucks, and they will take an 11-1 Alabama over 11-2 LSU UNLESS we beat them soundly this weekend.

You mean other than the extremely analogous situation presented by Penn State just last year?

I can't believe people are getting mad over a hypothetical snubbing.

If you don't want to get snubbed, don't lose to Troy. It's simple as that.

No team with a loss that bad will get into the CFB.

Analogous, but not exactly the same situation.

PSU beat #2 and #6.

LSU would potentially be beating the Coaches/AP #1 team twice.

I highly doubt that happens, but if it did, the committee can't simply shrug that off.

As easy as it is to fall into the Bama gets all the breaks theory, I could see it this way. Like you said:

LSU with 8 straight wins
SEC West champ
SEC champ
Head to head winner at opponent's home
Opponent finishes 2nd in division and did not make SECCG
Wins over #1 and #2 team nationally

And believe it or not I think the committee doesn't want to put Bama in unless it has to. They want diversity of teams. Fans want the best teams, but I would imagine the majority of the country would rather not see Bama there again. I also think the networks would love to have LSU in the mix. Think of all the fun they would have talking about the Cajun coach. Maybe we could actually use that to our advantage this time. They Oeaux us.

Hearing Spears on SEC network has me doubting it. He doesn't think Auburn gets in if they win out, beat Bama and Georgia twice. If that's the case, we surely won't get in by winning out. I think we would make a case if that were to happen though. We would have to have things fall into place like 2007.

It's all wild speculation and obviously we face long odds of knocking off Bama, but if you look at the remaining schedules for all of the top teams there is a strong likelihood there will be a lot of teams taking additional losses. If we can pull off a crazy run it will be a lot closer selection process then people think.
