"win out and we are in the playoff". Maybe. LSU will need a lot of help.

IMO.. LSU would need to finish the season by crushing both Bama and Georgia, along with the rest of our opponents. In conjunction with that, the other teams in the playoff discussion would almost all have to stumble somewhat in the latter part of the season.

This would IMO create an impression that we are a team on the rise and the others would lose a little of their luster...

This would not guarantee that we would be in but I feel as though this would create a more compelling argument to that effect...

No. Not if LSU beat both of them.

No.

I'm not saying it will happen, but it remains a possibility. A 2 loss LSU team made it into the national championship even before the playoffs. Yes, that situation was different, but there are definitely scenarios that are possible, no matter how unlikely.

Pre-buttal: "Yeah, but it won't happen!"
I know, we all get that.

instead of wasting so much energy on all the what-ifs, why not just wait until the season is over and it will be more clear. I've never undetstood the if, if, if nonsense when there's shitload of games left to play. And I'm pulling for my Tigers, but I'm afraid none of it will matter after Saturday anyway.

It's a very longshot, but people act like crazier things haven't happened before. LSU got in as a two loss team in 2007 with only 2 teams in. I know the situations aren't the same but we lost on the last week of the regular freaking season and then mayhem ensued during Conf. Champ weekend. I would put the odds at 1 in a million that the scenario works out for us, but there is a small chance.

I don't agree that if we win out we are def in. There are a lot of other dominoes that would need to fall. Miami beating Notre Dame would be one. Then losing in Mark Richt fashion to someone they shouldn't. Clemson would need to Clemson. Iowa St would need to win the conference champ game. There is a lot. But it's not impossible. That's why we play the games.

In 2007,we needed a ton of help when we had 2 losses to make the top 2.We got in and we won it all. Also, that win over Auburn will be huge especially if they beat bama.if Auburn loses to georgia and beats bama and we win out,we are gonna be considered.A couple upsets in the the conference title games could be enough

Easy to be a tough guy when you're "betting" on somethong that has under a 5% chance of actually occurring.

Why do y'all think we get if we were to win out? I don't think y'all realize how bad our not one but two losses were. No way the committee puts LSU in the top 4 when there will be other teams with one loss. It's not happening.

I think the talks are a little ridiculous, but winning against the top 2 teams in the nation would definitely be enough fuel to get us there. Bama would be forced out because of no championship as well.

You mean other than the extremely analogous situation presented by Penn State just last year?

I don't think that will happen again. I don't even watch ESPN or the SEC network unless a game is on and I have plenty of talk about that ridiculous selection last year.

A team that doesn't win it's conference and loses to the team that does will not be getting into the playoffs.

Player injuries
(re: Kelly Bryant & Clemson)
LSU has been played with a tattered D-Line almost all year and Arden is just now getting into shape.

If they take injuries into account, I wonder if they consider freshmen playing also. With 8 true freshmen starting at different time through 8 games and 20 TF playing could be considered alongside injuries.

Great analogy, but saying it now makes no sense. Saying it after Saturday nite, will make more sense.

I hope we have the opportunity to be discussing this same analogy in early December

They will have to answer the question of whether a two-loss team with two extremely quality wins deserves to be in. They can't just ignore it.

Currently, there is no precedent for that situation in the CFP era.

bullshite. See Penn State, 2016. One loss, conference champs. Wins over #2 and #6. Ohio state still made it in over them. You're fricking delusional if you think we have any shot whatsoever of making it in.

There's a human element at play with the committee

You're right, and that human element will be saying "they lost to fricking Troy at home!!!"

The amount of delusion on this board is fricking amazing. I've never seen anything like it.

Few would be happier than I to see LSU beat the Gumps, but I just do not see it happening so long as Satan is there. I also felt that no way LSU beats Auburn...

This is as true as the sun rising in the east and setting in the west. No way LSU gets in unless a lot of other improbable stuff happens.

You’re a brave soul. We are a historically bipolar team and I’m too emotionally envolved to ever lay money on an LSU Line... lol

Since everyone on here in so confident LSU gets in the playoffs if they win out, name your bet and price

So the bets off if LSU loses another game? Then the most likely scenario of this bet (>99%) is that it will be a push. Stupid bet.

I would bet you if LSU wins out then they will be in playoffs. I am banking on in that situation though that Georgia remains undefeated until SECCG.

LSU will not jump Ohio st, OU, Notre Dame, Clemson, and probably not Washington.

Wont need to "jump" them. Not all of these teams are going to go unbeaten the rest of the season. They'll drop on their own.

They had two losses. Losses similar to LSU actually. One was a 49-10 beatdown from Michigan. The other was a 3-point loss to an inferior Pitt team.

But LSU would technically still have a stronger case to consider. They would have two wins over the Coaches/AP #1 team (assuming UGA goes to Atlanta 12-0). I'm not even sure when the last time was that a team ever pulled that off in one regular season.

I wasn't at all saying it's a lock. I was just saying that it's possible.

I normally don't bet on teams I root for but my pops was hammering me to throw some money on that line and he's usually right about these things. Went ahead and threw some dollars hoping dad brings some good luck. Of course it's gonna backfire but who knows

But Penn State had a win over #2 Ohio State, and over #6 Wisconsin in the championship. I mean, it's basically the exact same scenario.
