This team has talent if it returns. We return every major contributor unless Blakeney leaves. Relative to the rest of the SEC West, we have 4 really solid starters.

We'll add two top 150 types. I'm thinking maybe NCAA. With Victor, we had arguably one of the better starting 5s in the West.

What say you? It's not a rebuild.

I would assume Blakeney is gone. Other than that it depends on just how horribly Joe Alleva botches the hire.

Dude this is way too early. Lets see who the coach is and who stays and who they bring in.

Not really... even so, we will more than likely see quite a few transfer out depending on the new coaching regime.

Impossible to answer unless we know who the coach is

Too early to tell. It all depends on who the new coach is

Mays, Blakeney, Sampson and Reath h are all solid players. Those 4 rival anyone outside of UF and UK in the conference.

We do need a couple of big men.

I'm not sure it depends on the coach either. If those 4 return, then he should be set for some immediate results. With Victor, I would have put our starting five at #3 in the conference. Jones has botched it big time.

It'll take a year or two for Brey to get it back in order but good times are ahead.

I will believe that Jones is gone when a press release comes out of LSU. I just have no faith in Alleva's ability to effectively evaluate his coaches after his handling of Miles over the last 16 months.

Blakeney isn't good enough to leave for the NBA yet. If he wants to play overseas, sure let him. The team does have talent, but we just so happen to have one of the worst coaches ever.

Does not matter who the coach is and just read the History of LSU Basketball. An average of 16 wins a season and no NC's so I would say more of the same.

Why? He gets a bad rap unjustifiably. Miles was one of our winningest coaches in program history. I wanted him gone several years ago because I thought he was incompetent, but it was a tricky situation because he'd win just enough.

He promised changes offensively last year. Alleva game him a shot to fix it. It was glaringly obvious he did nothing to address the offense. Alleva fired him. Put us way ahead of the game finding a coach.

We allegedly targeted Herman. I don't believe Jimbo was ever coming here. Texas opened up. He chose Texas. There wasn't much out there after Herman. He's giving a guy who could be a better fit for the job than anyone an opportunity to essentially prove himself. He hasn't given him a huge contract. There are protections in case he doesn't. I think it's a decent way to do it.

He hired Jones under pressure from the old crew.

So, I'm glad he fired Miles. Results on O are TBD. And he made the wrong call on Jones under pressure from other players. So, one bad hire. And one TBD. Baseball is set.

I don't care about other sports.

If jones is fired and we don't lose too many players to transfer we should be ok. First let's fire this bum and hopefully hire a good coach.

Do you think the new coach could add a new recruit or transfer?

This is a bit of a rebuild, but it can't happen next year when you look at the numbers/make-up of the team. The new coach is going to be kind of strapped for open spots. Regardless, all the impactful HS players have already signed. So the new coach is going to have to bring in transfers or graduate guys. Here is how I'm thinking the priorities for next year should be for the new coach..

1. Convince Blakeney and Reath to stay one more year. Potential all SEC guys that are by far the most talented guys on the team.

2. Keep the young core from transferring. Mays, Sampson, Simms and the new signings (Rachal and Alexander) all were recruited by the old staff. All can be solid players in the SEC, so it's important to keep as many as we can.

3. Sign at least 2 graduate/transfer guys. I would hope for a heady, experienced PG and a solid PF/C. Neither has to be a star, but we need a couple of guys that can give the youngsters some guidance and leadership.

4. If we get the transfers, redshirt Jenkins and Epps. We are going to need bodies going into 2018, especially in the frontcourt. We need to hold a couple of guys back. Plus it gives them time to grow/improve.

5. Give Robinson a goal and an ultimatum. I know he has had medical issues, but it's sink or swim time for him. He needs to be in shape and under 270ish going into next season. There is no reason a talented 7'1 guy shouldn't be getting minutes, even as a back-up.

6. Huge recruiting push for 2018. We are going to have at least 5 open spots, maybe more. Coach has a chance to totally flip the roster and add tons of talent. Going to have to really sell it.

7. Make defense a priority. This team was the worst defensive team I've ever seen. Every team shot over 50%. That has to change.

It's a huge list, but it is doable. This team could surprise next year, especially with a new philosophy and enthusiasm. Bit of a sleeping giant for the right coach..
