The starkville jabs started with Bertman and it was all in good fun. Bertman and Polk are friends and respected each other. When Skip started building LSU, State was the gold standard in the conference. We were chasing them. Big intense rivalry, but with mutual respect. Cohen is a fricking arse and has no business in college baseball. Its on State that they hired him, but there is a reason Ron Polk refused to let them put his name on the stadium. Its because he didn't want Cohen hired.

Cohen acts like an catalyst of the most games between the two teams.

He had a good run in 2013. In 2014, he did not, and 2015 downright sux. He will get passes though just for 2013, at least for a few more years, then he'll be shown the door.

He has coached plenty before 2013. Did a hell of a job at kentucky.

Polk was at Georgia for Skip's last year and they had a ceremony there. Polk put a bow around a luxury car and drove it to home plate. A guy got out and handed Skip a box of cigars. True story and I'm sure it was all in good fun.

Actually Polk didn't put the bow on the car and drive it himself. He had that done. My bad for poor sentence structure.

Wasn't Polk really pissed when they hired Cohen? Or do I remember that wrong?

I was at that game with the first base coach bullshite. I promptly emailed him after the game and politely ripped him a new one. He actually responded and backed himself into a corner as far as admissions and the rules go.

Honestly, I haven't really seen anything that I would consider to be "bad blood" between the programs. I think we as LSU fans are making that a little bigger an issue than it really is....

Cohen was a douche at UK and is a bigger one at MSU. His ridiculous bullying of the home plate ump the last series was so far over the line I couldn't believe he did not get reprimanded by the SEC. I can't stand a coach like him that can't handle adversity and continually loses control when things go against his team.

Ronnie Rantz compared Cohen to a pesky little brother that enjoys pushing people's buttons. Cohen knows how to push PM's buttons.
RR also said when Cohen left UK for MSU he asked all his staff to come with home, none of them did.

Yeah, Polk was pushing hard for Tommy Raffo to get the job. When Cohen got it instead, Polk disassociated himself with their program completely. He knew that Cohen was a douche and didn't feel he was the man to properly represent the program he had built.

Godfather, you nailed it re Polk's dislike of Cohen, or at least several MSU fans have said the same in another link. Initially, it was more of Polk being pissed at MSU for not hiring his former coached, and then Cohen being Cohen, it morphed into an intense dislike of him by Polk. They've kissed and made up, at least on the surface, but Polk does not go out of his way to talk to/about Cohen any.
