Yeap, always had good linebacker play under him. But chavis screwed the pooch on recruiting. He has one linebacker in the NFL from LSU he recruited and coached and that's Kwon, who was suspended for peds.

The usual Miles mismanagement of the roster

Nope. It proves that LSU doesn't recruit itself like the idiots think. LSU went after guys, just didn't sign them. Y'all act like NFL players are lined up outside the ops building begging for scholarships.

Louisiana doesn't produce linebackers. Until this season our best linebackers hailed from Florida, Georgia and Alabama.

So if not for Les being able to pull recruits from out of state. This team would be even worse off.

I'm shaking my head at this one too. He won't be a combine freak, don't think he will have any standout tape

Lol, he and Adams are the only ones that had highlights against bama on the defensive side of the ball.

LaCouture's film from this past season will be pretty awful from a next-level perspective.

I think he's a lock to stay. If he tests the waters, he won't get positive feedback.

You may disagree, but I'm right.

so the best chance we have to win the NC in 2016 and we will have one of the worst linebacking corps in the country.

How could out LB recruiting have been so bad under chief?

Good try, but it wasn't Chief's fault. Chief seemed to have an understanding with Miles that he would coach the defense, but he wasn't going to kill himself recruiting.

BTW, is it Chief's fault that we signed no running backs three years ago? Is it Chief's fault that we've had many years with no 4/5 star QBs? Welcome to LSU recruiting, man. This is how we roll.

LaCouture doesn't have measurable and stats that will blow anyone away, but he always plays his arse off.

He's a solid run stuffer/gap filler in a 4-3 at the next level if paired with an elite guy next to him. Unfortunately, he and Godchaux are both on the light side and neither are elite. They are both just solid.

So he had one game that would provide some tape? You have to have WAY more than that to crack the 4th round.

May not be that sour. Voorheis is a tremendous athlete just learning the position.

And the recruits should be given a serious look.

This! We don't have any standout DTs like we have had in the past. Think of the dominant defenses we've had and look at the DTs on those defenses.

Here have been our primary DT starters going back to 2003 and my assessment of them as a group:

2015: LaCouture and Godchaux (Decent)
2014: LaCouture and Godchaux (Average)
2013: Johnson and Ferguson (Decent)
2012: Johnson and Ferguson (Average)
2011: Brockers and Logan (Excellent)...tons of other solid DTs
2010: Nevis and Brockers (Decent)...lots of youth and Nevis as only constant
2009: Nevis and Woods (Average)
2008: Jean-Francois and Favorite (Decent)
2007: Dorsey and Alexander/Woods/Favorite (Excellent)
2006: Dorsey and Alexander/Woods/Favorite (Decent)
2005: Wroten and Williams (Excellent)
2004: Wroten and Williams (Decent)
2003: Lavalais and Williams (Excellent)

I like Duke Riley - the kid is 100% effort - I pray to G-d in heaven the light comes on - and maybe it will. I can't say that Alexander and Voorhies are terrible - but we can draw the inference from their lack of playing time that they are not ready to start right now - and August is just 8 months away.

Now - I may be drinking the Kool Aid, but I think Divinity is almost completely ready to play. EE status should only help with that.

If we do move DE to ILB or OLB, they have to have at least 4.5 speed on the OLB and no less than 4.6 speed on the inside, if you play a 3-4, which should be an option for us. We still have our great DB's who will play on 3rd and 6+. But can you imagine how good a guy like Arden key would be at coverage of a TE. 6'5" 235-240 lbs. and has great speed. I think we should revamp the D a bit.

When we play teams with big OL's and Big RB's, we need more size out there for DL and LB.

When we play smaller OL's and faster WR's and RB's we have plenty of great DB's who can come in and play in our 4-2-5 or 3-3-5.

I just think our DC needs to know how to plan for teams. i.e. Alabama, Arkansas, Ole Miss all had big OL's and big RB's. We lost because we didn't have our fast DE's prepared to play OLB or in the 3-4 scheme.

In this day and age, Miles and crew need to keep up with the times which is to be versatile against any kind of line up. Luckily we are getting a great Nose Guard with Big Ed at 6'2" 320 lbs. and his thighs are about as big as LF7's waste. 2017 we have another big boy coming in that can play NG, Tyler Shelvin 6'2" 329 lbs.

We have to change.
