We've had to fill in at LB in the past w less than SEC caliber guys.
Luke Sanders, Karnell Hatcher, DJ Welter come to mind.
No reason we can't fill in at all 3 LB positions for the Farewell Tour.

We are in trouble, why Kenny Young was so important a few years ago. We have been #2 on a bunch of backers the last few years, what is the problem?
Missing out on Kenny Young was the biggest recruiting failure over the past 4 years.

Clifton Garrett being a dang bust didnt help us much either

DT is worse shape. Likely to have only three maybe four on roster next year that are not true freshmen. And we have seen that DEs are also mostly undersized, hard to move into the middle.
Add DT weakness and lack of depth with LB questions equals power game problems. Move safety up for anti-run support weakens the secondary. All started with recruiting objectives in 2013-14

I never liked Garrett. He was listed as 6'2 230 and was 2x bigger than everyone in his highlight tapes. Dude played some awful competition in Illinois.

makes you wonder what coaches were really looking at. We have had either some really bad luck with QBs and LBs and DL or we have just been extremely terrible at evaluating

and some people wonder why we keep lagging behind Bama. Our LB depth next year is embarrassing!! We keep getting the pretty WRs while Bama loads up on 240 lb freaks

How did LSU go into Illinois and steal a 5* ILB? Think about that. No one had him as a take.
DL is different. Poor development and recruiting but not too many busts. Misses galore thanks to 2nd place Haley.
QB is an anomaly. Poor system for developing QBs and poor recruiting. I blame Miles 100% for this.

2016 could be a 6-6 year. This recruiting class is uber important.

We aren't losing any defensive tackles unless Lacouture leaves early.

Yeah we get them and dual-threat QBs and then we won't pass. LOL!

I know there's little hope, but could Tony Upchurch play LB? He's listed as 6'1 and 241 lbs. Definitely has the size and as a former WR, you would hope the speed and athleticism. I seem to remember that Karlos Dansby started at Auburn as a WR before they switched him to LB.
Also, with Guice and Brossette both behind Fournette is there any chance they convince Williams to go over? He's got the size and definitely appears to have the mean streak.
Curious why MJ Patterson isn't looked at unless he's just too slow. Is not big enough (listed at 223 lbs) to play DE even though that's where he is listed.

Re: DTs. Here are all the DTs on this year's roster. Two Srs will be gone, possibly LaCouture. That leaves three non-true freshmen DTs on roster for next year. Perhaps there are some OL that can switch over... but depth could be be a problem
Greg Gilmore 6-4 313 So
Quentin Thomas 6-4 313 Sr
Mickey Johnson 6-1 329 Sr
Frank Herron 6-4 286 So
Christian LaCouture 6-5 307 Jr
Devon Godchaux 6-4 293 So

No

The reason he came to LSU is because they finally offered him at RB. They originally offered him as an ATH which assumed he would be moved to LB. He has been flirting with the idea of transferring apparently due to not getting touches.

Has battled injuries his entire career I believe.

Lac isn't going anywhere.
Add in Rashard Lawrence, Glen Logan, Edwin Alexander, and the possibility of Gooden, Blacklock, Davis, Gary, etc it looks pretty good.

I'm sure Les can find some plug and play DJ Welter types and we will be just fine.
