It makes a huge difference when your QB can actually run the offense and find open guys. Finley either throws the hitch or a designed shot play downfield so he’s not going through progressions and reading coverage, he’s very easy to defend. Max Jets can also run some which opens up even more of the offense. He went into the Swamp and beat the #6, SEC East champs with a 54 man roster while losing about 6 starters during the game and he put 31 points on the board in doing it. Finley’s best game pales in comparison to what Max did last night. It’s very simple, one guy is a QB the other just throws the ball hard. It’s just one more glaring failure that Orgeron held this kid back to play someone who obviously can’t get the job done.

Oh for the days when Miles was HC. We didn't have to worry about holding back a quarterback to play another. Such tranquility.

It’s crazy that you got downvoted 4 to 1 for simply saying that Brennan is in the conversation next season. It just goes to show how over enamored our fans are with “the back up”. Brennan is your starter next year.

Truth. Everyone is excited over Johnson’s performance but Myles will be the starter next year if healthy. He will put up huge numbers like he did every game before he got hurt. People forget Brennan’s stats through the first 3 games were close to Burrow’s.
Myles opponents were all SEC games.
Burrow played Georgia Southern, Texas and Northwestern State. But Burrow did complete over 80% his passes to Brennan’s 60%.
Brennan- 1112 yards 11 TDs 3 ints
Burrow- 1122 yards 11 TDs 2 ints 1 rushing TD

If Finley grows into himself and grabs the bit, he would be more likely to bring us to the playoffs than Johnson, assuming it's between those two.

He played very well in his first start. I worry about all the hits he takes running the ball and if he can hold up.

Ideally he develops more as a passer and we don't need him to run as much next year.

Brennan was coached not to run as much because he had TWO TRUE FRESHMAN QBs behind him and they didn’t want him taking chance of getting hurt,

Never said anything about running the ball, simply stated Brennan lacked pocket presence not stepping into the pocket and making completions. Missouri game he passed for over 400 yards 430 to be exact but was 0-10 on third down conversations. We won the turnover battle with 3 fumble recoveries and had very short fields.

Again defense has been suspect but a good offense can keep the opposing teams offense off the field and rest a defense.

Our loss to A&M was to a good defensive team but again our offense was not good.

you lose some of that arm.

The guy who just threw 60 TD’s and won a heisman last year didn’t have the strongest arm either. I think he and Max are comparable in that department.

Arm strength is overrated if you can throw accurately.

I tried to bring that to the boards attention a couple of hours ago. People got but hurt and the admins whacked the thread

We definitely DO NOT have us a QB in the sense that Max is our starter next year. If Brennan is healthy it’s going to be a three man battle royale. If not, Finely and Max will battle it out. The winner between those two will be the guy who advances the most in the offseason. Right now, they are too close to call it.

You shouldn’t leave Nussmeier out. I know he will be a true freshman, but he’s an EE and he is looking great at the highest level of high school football. He’s showing up with what looks like more polish and preparation than Johnson or Finley did. If Brennan can’t go next year, he will be a factor in the QB battle.

Impressive. Different turn out at A&M if he would have started and played more.

Finley played well in one game.

Two. He played well in both the USC and Arkansas games. It can’t be overlooked that we were able to run the ball and were even or in front through both games. He struggled and started pressing when the burden of carrying the offense shifted to him vs Auburn, A&M and Bama.

Finley has arm strength that Johnson obviously doesn’t. He also did a good job of picking out reads in the two games when he had time and played well. However, Finley definitely got out of sorts in the tougher games and started making mistakes.

I know Johnson is a lot faster and more athletic with the ball than Finley, but his big advantage right now is his demeanor. Even when we had a couple of bad drives or when UF drove and took the lead, Johnson stayed in the game and kept bouncing back. We responded right after two UF scores with points of our own. THAT is what impressed me.

Johnson is far from perfect. He blew a couple of reads that could have resulted in big plays last night and he does not have a good deep ball. However, his poise and calmer overall demeanor makes him better suited as the starter right now.

I can also see how the coaches preferred Finley. He probably looks a lot like he did vs USC and Arkansas in the controlled environment of the practice field. And Finley delivered in game 1, so I’m sure that bought him a little runway. And we all know E wants to take a lot of deep shots, so his arm strength had to be a factor, as well.

I think the staff should have rotated more and made the switch sooner, but I can understand what they saw in Finley for a few weeks.

Of course semjackass (BRAVEHEART). Of course that is your take. The problem is this fan base is filled with too many semjackasses. And they will lead to the fall of LSU football.

Racists and SEC college football is a crash waiting to happen. These players don't won't to represent a fan base full of semjackasses. You'll get the type team you desire, but it will not be a very successful one.

Here we go. A White kid obviously outperforms a Black kid and immediately the racist crap comes out. Go fuk yourself.
