This is what happens when only one of the computer polls publishes the way it determines #1 ( this poll had OK State at #2) and the rest are allowed to hide behind creative protection BS. It is also the result of allowing coaches who have a personal stake in the matter vote Saban voting OK State 6 as well as Shaw from Stanford and for all the Bama trolls that will not stay on their own board I am aware that Miles put OK State at 3 ( being a SEC homer i guess). This very situation happened in 2006 and played out completely opposite With Ohio St. and Mich. and Fla.
Michigan was vying for the rematch but the polls and computers properly selected the team that had the stronger SOS and the team that won it's conference title awarding the #2 spot to Florida.

I will give credit to Bama for winning the game and I do think that they were the second best team at the end of the regular season. I do not think that they earned the right to play in the NC due to them losing the game on Nov. 5 and losing that game at home in which they only entered the red zone one time and had a total of -24 yards after reaching the LSU 30yard line.

If LSU would have lost the Nov. 5 match-up they would not have deserved a shot at the national title versus Bama or any other SEC opponent and if that would have happened and LSU would have unjustly been put into the game the Bama fans would have been crying louder than any LSU fan ever dreamed of.

False.. one coach voted OK St. at 5.. five coaches put them at 4, and the rest were 2 or 3.. Sorry, it's just misinformation..

Could have swore it was 6 but 4 still makes the point of the personal stake

He was referring to a "dark horse" possibility from OkSt for this year, and since he referred to OkSt I can only assume he was talking about last years NC since they were in the talk so much.

that still makes zero sense, if you're going to talk about osu being in the national championship game last year, you CAN'T make a statement like
quote:

"We may get the Bama OK st matchup we wanted last year"
.

No, it's not:

"The Harris Poll hurt the Cowboys' chances even more. Three Harris voters (former Notre Dame player Derrick Mayes, former Hawaii coach Bob Wagner and former Iowa sports information director George Wine) voted Oklahoma State No. 6."

Since when does ESPN let facts interfere with a good story line?

Mike Gundy was not a voting member of the Coaches poll last year either so he was not given the chance to vote his personal stake as other coaches were. Just to emphasize the point of the coaches poll being a joke now. Yes I know that we ere preseason #1 in the coaches poll.

This is the problem. People look at it like it was about who gets to play LSU. It was about who gets to play for a BCS Title. Roy Kramer, inventor of the BCS, himself said it was about the best teams playing.

Bama/LSU were the best teams

And how many of those national titles in Bamas past were won because they didn't play the second best team in the country?...Bama=asswipes...

I stand corrected... you did say voters, not coaches. I wonder if those #6 votes were #2 votes, if that would have put OSU over the top. To myself..

ETA: On the bright side, OSU did jump from 5 to 3 in the Harris poll the final week.. that poll sucks

All polls suck.

Completely subjective.

After 2003 the call was put it back in the voter's hands... da frick??? Only because it was self serving.

Just a game prior, the same guys that would make the decision called OU the best team in CFB history.

They lose a game, computers/sos put them in BCS and OMG, WTF from the same idiots.

I doubt just those three votes would've put them over the top. But IMO no voter should've voted Okie any lower than 3rd, at absolute worst, and I believe the vast majority should've put them 2nd. And in that event, given how close the final standings scores were, it certainly may have put them over.

That's the stink of it to me, and that SI.com article sums it up perfectly. Some of the votes seem incompetent at best, deliberately biased at worst. I believe the latter far more than the former, in large part due to the relentless media campaign in Bama's favor that began immediately after Bama lost on 11/5.
