Bama/LSU were the best teams

And in 2006 Mich and OSU were clearly the two best teams. Fortunately for florida voters picked the two most deserving teams rather than use the eyeball test.

+1. It's not about (or shouldn't be about) who's simply the "best", i.e., a team who someone subjectively feels is the most talented team. It's about (or should be about) who deserves to play for the NC based on more objective criteria like body of work, quality wins, SOS, conference championships, etc.

The "eyeball test" is nothing more than unreasoned bias.

We can blame ESPN all we want. But the only way to shut their mouths is to win. I was pissed that we had to get a rematch in the NC game because I know that if the roles were reversed (during the regular season match up) LSU would have never sniffed the NC game and OK St would have been in. Hoisting the crystal ball next January (whoever we play) is the only cure for their stupid talk.

Didn't espn make it pretty clear last year that it wanted Bama in the NC regardless of opponent?

Can you imagine if all else stayed the same last year and you reverse the LSU-Ala game-- they win 9-6 and then go on and win the SEC? I can just imagine Musberger and Herbstreit while Oklahoma State was finishing up pounding Oklahoma.

"Herbie, there's some talk that LSU may get another chance in New Orleans against Alabama. I don't like this -- its bad for college football."

"Brent, there's no way LSU should get a rematch. Look, we've done some of their games. LSU is a good football team, a little lucky at times, but still a good team. But they had their chance. I just can't imagine any voter putting LSU over Oklahoma State. LSU should go to the Sugar or Capital One Bowl."

"well bama really shoulda won the first and then it woulda been OKC vs Bama which would have been a fantastic match-up"

If that was the case, LSU would have gotten the rematch, right?

Losing a 9-6 game to the #1 team on the road? LSU would have had a better case getting the rematch that Alabama was given.

No, it's not:

"The Harris Poll hurt the Cowboys' chances even more. Three Harris voters (former Notre Dame player Derrick Mayes, former Hawaii coach Bob Wagner and former Iowa sports information director George Wine) voted Oklahoma State No. 6."

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM !!!!!!!!
Thanks for proving my earlier point!

Plus, Little Nicky voted Oklahoma State.................. F O U R T H !!!

There is no doubt in my mind, that if these few idiots had voted Okie State 2nd, or even 3rd,
Bama would not have been in the NCG.
I don't understand people that are saying "well the BCS is supposed to put in the best two teams, and LSU and Bama were the two best teams....."

Not entirely correct. The BCS is supposed to use SOS, Conference title results, # of wins vs ranked opponents. Okie State beats Bama on all of those..........

All the talk of voting OSU 4,5 &6th reminds me a little of the badminton thing in the Olympics. Many sports writers call it cheating, just the feel I get, to manipulate a game to get a better seeding. I know that it is two different circumstances and badminton has nothing to do with football. But, manipulating polls to get a more favorable outcome to the championship IMO is shady at the least and down right cheating at the most.
1/9 happened, it sucks, FESPN, all we can do now is cheer on LSU as they destroy Bama this year in our house and give ESPN no choice but to admit that LSU is the #1 team in the country.

in regards to the Harris Poll. Mr. Wine (whom passed away less than 1 month ago on 7/5/12) was the voter that stated that he only watched 2 college football games last season.

Kind of like they did last year after LSU beat Bama in their back yard in what ESPN called "the game of the century"?

It was Brian Griese. Which was interesting because earlier he had given love to Les Miles. I guess BG was at Michigan same time as Les as a assistant

and it was said and as I've stated in this thread before....it's not the first time.

I watch four things on ESPN. Games, PTI, Around Horn and CFBLive. It has come across before on this show in particular that they "feel" bama should have won the first game and therefore it woulda been Bama vs OSU. When in these "hypothetical" discussions, LSU in a rematch never comes up....

No, winning by 3 in a game with no touchdowns is not destroying anything. I will be cheering for LSU to skulldrag the gumps up and down the field.
