In any sport, no one cares who has the most wins over a period of time; it's about winning titles. From 1996 to 2000, the Braves won more games than anyone in baseball. No one ever brings that up because the Yankees won four titles. Who would you rather be?
LSU.

This is still going?
It's amazing how much the fair weather fans complain on this place.
A question for the miles bashes were any of you fans before Saban was coach? Did anyone have to suffer through the DiNardo years, the hallman years? If you didn't you have no place to complain. If you have only been a fan since nick Saban has coached, you are spoiled with over success. Miles makes our hearts beat a-alittle faster, he does things that make us scratch our heads, but he continues to put some of the most talented teams together in the SEC. Just two years ago we completely clobbered everyone except Bama and because of that one loss everyone called for his head. If miles has 3 straight seasons of 4 or 5 losses. I'll get behind you and call for his head. But this is one loss, sure we look bad but 1 loss, and you guys want him gone.

So do 4th if you want. I'm sure SOME selective statistics will fall in your favor and fit the narrative you seek.

There's also been a weird strain of self-loathing in the Louisiana collective (put that word in especially for you) psychology. When I was a kid there were these hater-types that were all in with Notre Dame. These same people throw in with the Gumps now. They idealize "the other" and detest themselves. It's actually a very "Lefty" psychological perspective, but I digress, pre-fist-fight, so as not to go all PT Board on you. In the LSU case, I think it's based in fear. LSU fans can be fearful types. They fear loss of status.

Here's what we know about the MiLes bashers:
- The average one has fewer credit hours at LSU than Les has national titles
- With only three exceptions, they refused to answer my OP question, and we all know why: the bashers know how good Les' record is, and they know that the likelihood of it continuing at or near that winning % is higher than that of his record actually reflecting their opinions of him.
I gave these dorks a clear and easy chance to tell us just how it's gonna go down. They've been shitting on Les for a decade now, and as long as Les has the best coaching record in LSU history, they have nothing to support their unrealistic, unhealthy views.
And that's why they all pussed out. Because though they won't admit it, they know the following two things just like you and I do:
1. The chances of LSU ever having another coach with a record as good or better than Miles' are slim to none.
2. When Les Miles retires from LSU many years from now, he still will have the highest full time winning percentage in LSU football history...and (I probably shouldn't say this because it scares the shite out of those cowards) he might even add to the trophy case.
Miles-bashers: you're all a bunch of idiots, and you proved it in this thread. If you can't be happy with LSU football under Les Miles, you will never be happy with LSU football. So why are you here?

I'll be interested to know if any of them respond to my Dinardo and Hallman years question.
Now I have to admit, I was pretty young during those years, but I bet they can't even say that.

we may do this in 2015 or 2016
I really do think this is similar to the 2009 season.
that year we brought in
Barrow
Brockers
Mo Claiborne
Downs
Faulk
Tahj Jones
Loston
Kiki Mingo
Minter
Randle
Shepherd (who never panned out)
4 5 star prospects
8 4 star prospects
9 3 star prospects
this year
2 5 star prospects
14 4 star prospects
7 3 star prospects
1 2 star prospect (the kicker who can has a canon for a leg)
Keep in mind that LSU already has 2 5 star recruits for next season committed.
2010 wasn't a great year for us in recruiting but 2011 was one of the best LSU teams EVER. If the 2014 class pans out like the 2009 class. LSU could compete for a title again in 2016, maybe even 2015.
LSU is not declining, we will be scary good again in a couple years. edit: I just realized we have 10 DL freshman on our roster right now. 4 Sophmores, 3 juniors and one senior. I will be shocked if our d line doesn't get better by seasons end and next season.

It's great being a Tiger fan. Whereas when Brooklyn Dodger fans were telling a half-joke when they said "Wait 'til next year," LSU fans are issuing a threat.

Wins and losses are simply a by product of what takes place on the field. Les Miles has won games at LSU by understanding that if you play good defense and DON'T TURN THE BALL OVER then you'll win more than you lose. It's almost a let them beat themselves mentality. Of course, this philosophy lends itself to some of the ugliest offensive football imaginable. If the product was better on the field then people wouldn't be calling for his head when he loses.
FYI, before I get buttraped, I'm not saying that Miles should be fired I'm simply giving my observation.

Will someone explain to me why in the world a good coach would play DJ Welter over 52? I don't buy the "he get's the team lined up" excuse. If that's the case then put him on the sidelines with a megaphone so he can scream out to the players on the field.
DJ got totally abused on so many plays and simply stated he doesn't MAKE any plays....as in no tackles for loss or tackles for no gain.
Good defenses must put the offense in 2nd and 10.

someone told me that we are the second youngest team if not the youngest team in the SEC. The fact is LSU has a lot of true freshman and redshirt freshman getting key playing time this season. That only bodes well for the future. Once those guys adjust to college speed we will get better.

I stand by this opinion of Miles
Miles isn't the brights bulb in the batch, he makes stupid decisions on the field, he has horrible clock management at times, and he appears to stick to a very vanilla play calling at times.
BUT
Miles has put together a really good coaching staff, at-least at the top. Chavis is one of the top D-cords in the country, Cameron is good enough to be a head coach anywhere in the country and did well as an offensive Cord in the NFL.
Also
Miles and his staff recruit among the best in the country. 2008-2011 is proof of that. LSU went from 9 losses in 2 seasons to blowing everyone out the water (except bama) in 2 seasons.
If LSU continues to have 10 win seasons like we have had with the exception of 2008 and 2009 at-least recently, than I want miles to stick around a little longer.

We'll find out what kind of coach he is in the next several weeks.

Nine years didn't tell us, but several weeks will?
Besides, that wasn't the question.
When will the results reflect the negative opinions? Bashers haven't been able to hang their anti-hats on compiled results in nine years. When's it going to happen?
