The first part of your post has merit in that ballscaster ignores the set of initial conditions Les's predecessors had.
I certainly do not. I've mentioned multiple times that Miles has a better winning percentage than any of his predecessors even when you only count the years he had his own players. Even when you take away the years when he had someone else's players, he still has a better LSU record than any other full-time coach, ever.

They are far more than mere opinions. If there are no expectations there are no disappointments and no celebrations. They are common to competition, coaching, playing football (personal level and team level), and fandom.

That you haven't accounted for them doesn't dismiss their reality.

^^^not stats

The comprehensive stats support the opinion that Miles is an elite coach.

We haven't seen it?

But frick the #'s

If LSU goes 8-5 this season and the next two, Les Miles will still have a better winning percentage at LSU than Saban and Arnsparger. A fourth such season, and he drops.

If he averages four losses per year, he will drop out of first all time at LSU in 2021.
The majority of the L.S.U. fan base (Season ticket holders, Alumni and Fans that attend most of the games) could care less about his overall winning percentage. They're only interested in how many Championships he has. S.E.C. West Championships. Outright S.E.C. Championships. National Championships.

Anything less than winning the SECW is not accpetable. Finishing behind Alabama and Auburn in the SECW is unacceptable. Having 4-5 SEC teams finish with a higher ranking in the Final Top 25 is unacceptable.

LM's overall winning % has been greatly padded by all the 00C cupcakes and Sisters of the Poor. He has too many consistent disasters in the areas of Game Management-Planning-Adjustments, Team Preparation, Player Personnel Decisions and Offensive Philosophy (Archaic Jurassic Era) to be taken seriously by anybody but the die-hard Sunshiners and University of Mediocrity students.

Les has a top 5 team (talent wise) every year. You could put any local moron in his shoes and do just as good as he had. Promise Mark Hudspeth could do better than miles

Threw the ball more than they ran it (granted they were forced to due to the score at the end), and that's with Jennings throwing it 26 times before coming out. A few drops as well as some poor passes in that number as well.

Just arguing numbers here, not situations or the game plan.

Agree if we are out of the discussion for the western division I dont want to go or watch games. Bowls are meaningless. At LSU you if you arent winning championships then its failing. That is just it. 20 years ago winning 9 games ok great! But with the talent and money spent on the stadium if you arent winning sec championships you are failing

Right THEY WAITED UNTIL WE WERE DOWN BY 14 TO START THROWING. WHY NOT PASS ON FIRST OR SECOND DOWN?

Who has won more since 2000?

Minus Bama

Who just were very fortunate Saban fell in their lap.

First, are you suggesting that the program that Les inherited was in the same state of health as Stovall, Arnsparger, Archer, etc?

When you refer to his "own players" what does this mean? 4th yr and beyond?

Arnsparger never had "his own players" having coached for only 3 seasons. And I'm pretty sure Nick's record for '03-'04 (his 4th and 5th seasons) was better than Les's with his own players ('08 and beyond).
