Wasn't he Clemson's DC when WVU hung 70+ on them in the Orange Bowl in 2012?

Yes, Steele was the Clemson DC in that debacle - one of the worst defensive performances ever. LSU shouldn't let this guy anywhere near their program.

Holy! Good memory. Hiring Steele as DC at LSU would be a massive fail.

Why is Steele being considered with this line up?

Shea that he knows someone close to Steele, he is happy at Alabama and has NOT been contacted by LSU despite rumor that Miles is having a sit down with him.

Pendergrast is likely our DC and there is a huge push to get coach O on board as well...

Finding Haley a job is the key

You can't bring in O without losing a coach. There are limits on the number of assistants you can have which is why Kragthorpe had to move to an admin role when we brought in another assistant. So unless Brick is leaving, I don't see how O comes in.

I'm concerned Pendergrast won't understand the 18-21 year old Southern culture. This reminds me of the Trent Johnson hire.

Not that I don't want him, just a concern.

Want Venables. Hubbie has season tickets to Clemson. Been watching his stout, disciplined D following Steele fiasco since Bowden days at Clemson.

As for Pendergast, There's a reason Pendergast has no longevity... But not sure what it is.

This doesn't make sense considering who he's coached with.

Apex, that is exactly what I am hearing. Think it will be a great move. Get Pendergrast and coach O LSU, upgrades in this whole thing.

im fine with their top 3. im very confident and feel much better than I did a week ago. it was time for some fresh air and new blood and I feel any of the 3 of Pendergrast, Venables or Steele would be a great recruiter and DC. this could end up being a blessing in disguise
That's the way I look at it- Chief was just looking for a good retirement package, and would be nice to see someone with a little more excitement and energy to motivate the players & help with recruiting. We will be fine...
