Urban was diagnosed back when he was at ND with a brain cyst. When hit by stress it causes him severe migraines. I don't know if he is tired of the migraines or something else was diagnosed. I believe this info was in a SI article about a month or 2 ago

Heard another rumor: cyst on the brain. I'm not a doctor but that sounds serious.

Some are saying that when Meyer went to the hospital, he showed symptoms of brain cancer.

Please tell me you were TRYING to make a bad joke.

Man I hope that's not the case. I have a very good friend who has been fighting that for 20 years...and it has not been easy!

It's for health reasons not another coaching job.

...This just in from a Saban presser, "I am absolutely not interested in the head coaching position at the U of F!" In other related news, Saban agent, Jimmie Sexton, reportedly commented, "Ahhh, no comment..."

he has an arachnoid cyst inside his skull. it is not cancer but can cause sever headaches especially when under significant stress/yelling as required in top level football coaching. It can be very debilitating but generally not life threatening. Difficult to manage.

Wow. This has to be something very serious for him to retire from coaching. Best wishes to Coach Meyer.

Best of wishes to UM and his family. Here's hoping he gets back to health. He was a great asset to our conference and he will be missed.

Well, he will be missed unless we're playing Florida.

It's starting to look like this could really be something serious. People close to the program are saying it probably is.
