Wow if we were to somehow get past SMU in round 1 (not very likely), Iowa State would absolutely skull drag us in round 2

Of course who LSU would play is all pure conjecture at this point, but for discussion purpose I doubt Iowa St. would "skull drag" LSU. No one, including Kentucky has been able to skull drag LSU this year. I don't see that all of a sudden changing. Plus, Iowa St. would be a good matchup for LSU. They're a team that likes to play fast without playing much defense. The teams that hurt LSU are those that slow the game down to a grind and make LSU do something they're poor at, execute in the half court. I'll take LSU against any team that wants to get out an run

If LSU goes anything but 4-0 I'd be ok with being left out. This team has blown too many opportunities to be honest.

The committee cares more about good wins than bad losses. LSU will face teams like Arkansas in the tourney, they won't see the likes of Auburn.

But honestly 3-1 against those 4 teams is still 3-1 against those 4 teams. Doesn't really matter who the loss is to.

Would be 22-5 right now and really looking at a great season if not for those 3 inexplicable losses. So frustrating.

yep, all part of the long season though. But I agree. The diff is night/day. at 22-5 w no real bad losses would have us ranked in Top 20 and a 4 or 5 seed instead of a bubble team that might not get in.

The SEC needs to do its job and get at least six teams in the field. We used to routinely get that many when the conference had 10 teams.

You can't make a run if you can't get a chance.

The problem has been the sec performing so poorly out of conference/ playing weak schedules. Then in conference the teams are so close that they end up with a mass of 500ish teams in conference.

This year the sec did fairly well ooc and it looks like we have gained some respect.

I'm still worried about the inevitable upsets in conference tournaments. For example if UT or Bama somehow wins the SEC tourney...the SEC isn't getting 7 teams in the NCAA tourney. There are locked in teams that will lose in other conference tournaments knocking those projected 11 and 10 seeds out because of the automatic spots. I'm not convinced the SEC gets 6 in anyway and right now LSU is in the 6th spot with RPI,etc.

I think the Tigers need 4 more wins including the SEC tourney.

I agree Alt, in fact their style is one I think we'd match up better against than most teams. Would love to see us play them should we somehow manage to finish well enough to get in. Not sure how anyone would think they would skull drag us.

no way the SEC gets 6 teams in. 5 would be great.

LSU needs to go 3-1 and win at least 1 tourney game, maybe even 2. I just don't see how we get in.

I think 2-2 could get us in if we don't lose to auburn.

Why not? Yes, LSU has some bad losses but they also have several good wins. Certainly more than A&M and UGA, and just as many as Ark and Ole Miss. Sure LSU can lose to just about anyone. But they have also proven that they can beat just about anyone anywhere (two of their best wins were on the road) 3-1 means that they've added another top-50 win to the resume. Depending on who the "1" is, they may even have two good wins added to the list.

As a side note, win or lose tomorrow people need to show up and give these guys some support on Sat. against OM. It's a HUGE game

I guess I haven't been paying attention.

When did they decide to add a play-in game at the 11th and 12th seed levels?

Up until 2010, it was a 65-team tournament, with the only play-in game between two #16 seeds. Starting in 2011, they expanded the tournament to 68 teams, and there are now four play-in games. Two are between #16 seeds like before, but the other two are between the last four at-large teams (teams that got in without winning their conference's auto bid).

We could end up with a double bye and win two games in the SEC tourney, where would that get us?

5-7 seed if we get a double bye and make the conference championship.

That would mean we would almost have to finish 4-0 / 12-6.
We would be a really solid 7-3 vs the rpi top 50. That's a good resume.

Agreed. Having watched both UVA and LSU play all year, a team like UVA would absolutely decimate LSU. They'd frustrate the hell out of them on offense and on defense, LSU would have to stay mentally sharp the whole game as UVA is great at taking advantage of small windows of opportunity. This is presuming UVA is fully healthy come tournament time.
