I just meant as far as biased goes. SEC had the chair the year before and in 09 a big 12 chair comes in and mysteriously Ok St and Baylor got in.
I think they both actually won a game in their regional. I know Baylor went to Baton Rouge but neither had good bodies of work that warrented a regional.
Yeah looking back 2007 was bad too
The last few years havent been too bad. I'm hoping for few mistakes and evenly spread out regionals and may the best team win.

The newest BA predictions by Aaron Fitt have LSU moving in as the last top 8 national seed.

As we wrote yesterday, there is very little difference between Ole Miss and South Carolina. But we now believe LSU has leapfrogged over both of them. The Tigers are up to No. 10 in the RPI (ahead of No. 13 South Carolina and No. 14 Ole Miss), and all three now have 15 top 50 wins. Sure, LSU played a weak nonconference schedule, with an 11-1 record against teams outside the top 200 (compared with Mississippi’s 3-0 and South Carolina’s 8-1). But the Tigers have overcome that deficiency in their resume by finishing third in the SEC during the regular season and steamrolling opponents in their last seven games, including a run to the SEC tournament championship game Sunday. They also took two of three against Ole Miss in Oxford, which helps. Momentum does matter, and LSU has a ton of it—this team is playing its best at the right time, and that is the separator.

Lol at the ole miss fans on twitter coming to the realizatioN that the team right behind them in the Reg season standings has stolen their national seed. Some of them not too happy bout it.
What they don't realize is that it was soooo close to begin with at the start of tournament, it all came down to performance in Hoover....USC and ole miss shite the bed, and lsu played like the best team In The country , and while USC and Ole Miss both indeed were ahead of LSU entering the tournament for a national seed, it wasn't by much.

@aaronfitt Saying the SEC tourney is more important than the SEC regular season is ridiculous. One good week for LSU is > than OM west title

@KendallRogersPG OM has more wins vs top 25 RPI, same win total vs top 50 RPI, and more wins vs top 100 RPi. Won the West ahead of LSU but their conference tourney week is > than OMs 10 week conference regular season? That makes sense.

Just imagine where we'd be if we threw a no hitter yesterday.

LSU > Ole Miss head-to-head this season. At their place.
Want the national seed? Should've won one more against us at home.
I'm hoping there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth in Oxford around lunchtime tomorrow.

ole miss fans acting like finishing a mere game ahead of us in the regular season standings (in a season where we effectively played TWO less league games) somehow gives them some huge insurmountable advantage over us. Advatage? Yes, but only a slight one. There are other factors that go into this. (RPI, head-to-head, SEC tourney, strong finish, etc)
It's not like LSU sucked in the regular season...we finished right there with ole miss pretty-much neck-and-neck.....therefore the tourney mattered and was the separator between OM/USC/LSU

Exactly...... And every year they talk about being hot at the right time, momentum and there isn't a team playing better than LSU at the moment. This is probably the best they have played going into the tournament in a long time. Since 09 for sure and I think better than that team right now.

Yep they are none too happy about it. Someone needs to tell them to quit using conference standing as an argument when all schedules aren't equal. Switch Florida and Missouri on each of our schedules and I bet we finish in first place.

Exactly...and hell even without that switch if we just finish/play the other two games (UGA/Bama), we probably win and their entire argument is out the window as LSU would have won the West With the head-to-head.

That being said I'm not willing to say we are a lock with a win today. It would be hard for me to see the #1 RPI conference only get one national seed while the Big 12 and ACC get multiple ones. But it would also not surprise me to see them hold our non-conference schedule against us.

Who knows what "them" will come up with, but when you play in a conference that will probably get 8-10 of its members in regionals one would hope college baseball minds would see what we did/are doing in the SEC to have a greater value than Non-conference games.

I agree but the committee has made that an issue in the past. If we just had one decent non-conference weekend we wouldn't even be having this discussion. Might not even have to win today.

There's no way to know for certain what they'll do, but I think all signs point to LSU and TCU/OSU at this point.
Posted on 5/25/14 at 11:42 am to JPLSU1981
I agree. I'm just saying it's not 100% lock. Let's worry about winning today first.

I hear you.
How do we have a system where you can have a SOS of 100+ and a RPI of 5? Well, I guess I kinda understand how, but why would you want such a system.

Well maybe if they hadn't let our patchwork pitching shut them out. Or maybe if they hadn't blown a 6-0 lead on Friday they could have had a chance to even things against us.
