1. Aggressively recruit the absolute best olineman you can.....whatever it takes. No more projects. Guess who does this? Best way to mitigate a troubled QB system is a strong oline unit.

2. Recruit the QB that fits the system. Les is not going to change his philosophy , so try and find the round peg. Star ratings are worthless without the proper fit.

I see the defense as a championship level unit, so I think they just keep doing what they are doing.

What does this round peg look like? Maybe we need to look at one of the QB's from a HS that still runs a variant of the Wing T or one of the other modern offenses Miles favors

Wait, I thought LSU was an elite team? You mean 8-7 in the last 2 seasons in the conference isn't elite?

Who said LSU was an elite team this season?
LSU is an elite program though.

This thread is about how to get the team back to greatness next season. It's not one for bleeding pussies.

Got to stay strong up front defensively...godchaux and beckwith's progression has been huge.

I am an engineer so I think the approach here is wrong

If you performed a RCA (root cause analysis) it would be clear that the qb is not root of the problem. The system is the problem. Yes Mett had a strong sr. year, but the system was totally different than his jr year. They opened the playbook up his sr year and it paid off. When the coaching staff gets into that ultra conservative run the ball mode we fail and fail big time. A change that needs to be made with the system is WE NEED BALANCE. We lost games by being run heavy we need to throw the ball. Make teams respect the passing game. We can't run the ball 3 quarters straight and get behind, then at the 4th quarter start throwing hail marys hoping for a flag down the field. I mean seriously what kind of strategy is that?

The offensive system is the problem. The whole offense is set up to fail before they take the field. Too conservative and predictable. Half the time we point which way we are running the ball.

1 and 2 won't mean anything as long as Miles is the coach.

We have elite talent, but that hasn't equated to being an elite team on the field. We certainly pay elite money for our coach. So it seems like everything is "elite" except the product on the field. Except for our defense (you know the one part of the team Miles doesn't get involved with), I'll agree that our defense in the second half of this season is elite.

By the way, we had QB's in the program that fit into a pro style offense and it was made clear to those QB's that Miles wants a mobile QB. We have a coach who is dead set on playing a mobile QB in a system that neutralizes the QB's natural talent and asks that QB to do things they are not comfortable with (throw from the pocket). It's not like we just ended up with running QB's, Miles actually recruits running QB's to put them under center in the I-formation.

If we can have a 50/50 balance that would be a start. Besides LSU and Alabama most defenses struggle against the pass. If that's their weakness exploit it.

Jaydeaux, there are many schools in Texas and California that are hiding pro style QB's. Louisiana schools pretty much don't.

Im pretty certain that Miles is involved with the defense. To say otherwise is just dumb.

you know maybe you should consider giving up your career as a "smart azz" and just go back to being a full-time dumazz...what ya think??? Works for me.

Can I get some examples of QBs playing now who would be an ideal fit for what we've run this year?
