Every now and then. Most years they are a bubble NCAA Tourny team.

No it's not. 6 national titles and 16 CWS appearances to 1 fluke CWS appearance says otherwise.

UL-L needs to try and supplant Tulane first before they can even claim second best program in the state. Tulane has done something no other Louisiana team has ever done, knock LSU out in the post season.

Remember their dream is still to be recognized as "the" University of Louisiana and wipe out any mention of the one in Baton Rouge. So I warn us that they could possibly win and if they do look for them to push that Tiger Stadium be moved to Lafayette and a presidential Executive Order be that Fans must become USL fans.

All I know is that we'd better kick the snot out of them tonight, because if they come into The Box and beat the top-ranked team in the nation, we'll never hear the end of it. There'll be a ticket tape parade down Ambassador Caffery tomorrow. They'll design championship rings, a la Auburn football, 2004.

Dear Coach Robichaux,

You are joking, right? In what world is your school a rival of LSU? A prerequisite t a rivalry is that there be TWO rivals... this simply is not the case with LSU. WE DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU!! Get that through your thick arse head.

LOL. It was pretty funny last year when Robichaux's son was more interested in bitching about ULL fans actually showing up just because they are playing LSU. He should've been focused on his two inning swan dive.

Florida vs FSU = 0 CWS titles
LSU vs ULL = 6 CWS titles

Duh, baseball is a different animal. Any team can win any day and especially midweek games. If this was a weekend series? that would be a joke

The present CWS format has a best-of-two format. I only see one game on the regular schedule. I remember a few years ago when Florida beat LSU during the regular season only to get knocked out by LSU later--when it counted most. A loss to UL@L this early means nothing in the big picture.

Well, with all of this High School Charlie bravado from our fanbase, if USL wins I sure hope our astute posters refrain from "it was their Super Bowl, Player X only player Y innings," and other lame reasons.

LSU-ULL same as UF-FSU...
Anyone that agrees with this is foolish & we all know that....doesn't mean as an LSU fan that my jimmies are rustled or I'm insecure (although some fans' certainly are).
ULL is not a rival...a quality opponent one year does not make a rivalry. I can't blame their coach for hyping the game as a rivalry.
The poster that said it's annual state bragging rights is ridiculous.

I assure you the players' & coaches' intensity level for this midweek game is less than a non-conference wknd series against anyone.

That said, they are a quality opponent & it should be a good challenge for LSU.

Ragin Cajuns beat us in '09, the year we won the CWS, I believe. It could happen again.

I enjoy games at Moore Field almost as much as at the Box, if not more with my Abita, but to call this game a rivalry is more than a stretch.

And I haven't followed the FL/FSU series, but is it that one-sided?

Since 2000...

LSU's winning percentage against ULL = 66%
Florida St.'s winning percentage against Florida = 60%

Not too far off.

Just saying.

it was their Super Bowl

I don't know who will win, but it is their Super Bowl. It's only natural that the ULL players will be more up for this game & the LSU guys will treat it like any other midweek game.
Those ULL guys have nothing to lose in this game. If they win, it's party in Laffy. If they lose (even get killed), it's no big deal b/c it's pretty much expected.
However, if LSU loses, it will most likely be b/c in baseball more than any other major sport, on any given night any team can beat any other team.

Id take a guess and say florida/FSU play more series than midweek games...
