You see, here lies the problem. One of your fellow fans basically pointed out the faults of BOTH teams, and yet you continue to attempt to defy his logic and blame it all on one side.

How many times since 1984 has LSU pitchers purposely thrown at a hitter? None. You know why? Because they handle their business on the scoreboard. If you don't want LSU players pointing at the crowd after home runs, don't serve em up. Robichaux should spend less time teaching his guys how to be "defenders of playing baseball the right way" and more time teaching pitchers how to keep the ball in the yard.

It was a total Little Man move to start throwing at hitters because you can't get the LSU hitters out. That entire weekend was about the little guys poking their chest out to show LSU that they weren't going to back down. They were running their mouths that entire weekend.

I've never been comfortable with my supposed obligation to hate "USL/UL". I always pull for them when they are not playing LSU, just like I would pull for Nicholls or Southern. They have a great little program .

We could have easily taken the high road and simply beaten their asses like we did and let them come off looking like the douche bags they were. But, I guess that was easy for me to say from my seats. What a great atmosphere that was, though.

Pretty impressive recall. I couldn't name one player for USL/UL in their entire history. And you remember scores of LSU games?

Never heard of Ron Guidry, Jonathan Lucroy, or BJ Ryan? You must not be a baseball fan if you have never heard of at least one of those players.

But I must admit, that was an impressive recollection.

I don't think being up 5 runs is the "shut it down" point in not running the bases. If it was on purpose, I'll get right in line to call it a bush league move. Mainieri was very vocal about Ms State's antics last year, I don't think he encourages his pitchers to throw at hitters.

Stony Brook came in and earned respect by kicking our butts all over the park. They didn't throw at hitters wen LSU hit 3 last at bat game tying home runs in game 1. They handled business in games 2 and 3. Respect earned!

Come on, ULL is a good school, and is really trying to improve its athletics. I'm just looking forward to a good baseball game.

Comes down as usual to the 'haves' vs the 'have nots'.

People spend most of their lives fantasizing . Good to know that Robichaux feels important in his own head. USL will never win a NC in baseball. Imagination is more important than knowledge according to Albert Einstein.

Let's just look at this "rivalry" this way: when Skip stepped in & shut down both the men's and women's series, who "missed" it the most? I can assure you LSU fans gave it no thought whatsoever.

Jonathan Lucroy is the starting catcher for the Brewers and is one of the best catchers in the National League. Look up his stats from last year if you don't believe me.

The Citadel and Maine said the same thing.

I'm not sure what route the Citadel and Maine took to get to the CWS in their years. But the Cajuns did it by winning a 3-game series Super Regional at #1 National Seed South Carolina that had 56 wins and hadn't lost a weekend series all season. We earned our route to the CWS that season, nothing was handed to us.

The Citadel won a 6 team regional at Miami in 1990. There's less "luck" involved in doing that than winning a 2 out of 3 one weekend against one opponent.

But I didn't call the Cajuns lucky in 2000, that was another poster.

What I was meaning was, to call a program "Legit" for one CWS appearance is what The Citadel, Maine and Georgia Southern also can claim. Not disparaging that one season, but I felt the poster was using "legit" to mean "elite," which simply doesn't apply to Southwestern.

Duh, baseball is a different animal. Any team can win any day and especially midweek games. If this was a weekend series? that would be a joke

I doubt that, especially this year. UL has a many returning starters, have upgraded pitching and perhaps a legit closer.

What hurt UL last year vs. LSU in postseason was UL simply ran out of pitching due to having to play too many games. Once the starter was out, it was all over with.

would love to see a 3 game series between the schools, regular or post season.

No.. ULL did it by bleaching their hair blonde.
