LSU has had several McDonald's all Americans. Its basketball history is a Royalty compared to Iowa St's. It is a ton easier to get one here then it is there.

Tim is a very good coach who unfortunately wasn't liked by Michael Jordan. I'd love for Tim to coach the Tigers.

Don't accuse me of having a wavering opinion. Also, you must have a lot of free time on your hands.

Didn't Tim Floyd recommend Trent Johnson to LSU in the first place?

I want TJ to stay here, but if he leaves, Floyd would be one of my top choices.

I'd also make a call to Avery Johnson.

I doubt he lasts too much longer with the Nets. NOLA native, etc.

I'm done with this fan base. We fire the biggest bitch, and we hire someone who is nothing but complimentary about the fan base even when no one shows up to the games. He had the biggest dry-spell of SEC caliber Louisiana recruits that I can remember under his tenure.

He missed on one player he wanted in-state. The next couple of classes had some serious talent. He brought in some solid out-of-state players.

I'll never understand the hate for this guy. He totally cleaned up our program from the Brady years. It was just beginning to get back on track under his watch.

The next coach will have NOTHING to clean up. NOTHING. We have a roster filled with underclassmen who won 17 games last season.

I can understand why he'd leave. There would certainly be expectations next season for Trent. If he didn't make the tournament, he'd probably be fired. Too big of a risk.

Sweet post.

Stanford: took over established winning program. Does slightly above average and leaves it a mess. Dawkins in year 4 makes it to nit championship.

LSU: uses brady's players to win sec. Hasn't done squat since. Backs into the nit, best player leaves to go overseas and strong possibility other players leave.

Trent championed the fact he never had one player leave during his entire tenure. Since coming to LSU, he's had enough departures to field an entire team.

I could go on longer but I'm enjoying this beautiful weather and poolside view.

Reality > you and trent

Why

I'm not going to argue with you. You've probably forgotten my reasons, which is difficult to do considering I've spelled them out in several threads in which you posted. I do it one more time.

I see the forest. You see the trees. I see exactly what he followed. I see that Louisiana had a dry-spell of producing SEC caliber talent during his tenure. You see that we're not going out-of-state and landing five star players from Maryland, Florida, Georgia, etc. I see that TJ had the program heading the in the right direction. You see two seasons that were a product of Brady's inability to sign quality talent in the two years following a final four appearance.

I see that next season, even with Hamilton leaving, we have the pieces in place to make the tournament. I want TJ to stay because I believe we would have made the tournament next season. I want TJ to stay to see if we could land Jarrell Martin, Craig Victor, Bridgewater, etc. on the heels of an NCAA tournament appearance.

The expectations should have been raised next season to NCAA tournament or bust. I'm fully for that. I just believe TJ would have met those expectations, and I want to see someone who I believe is actually an excellent coach who inherited a program in a tenuous position fully turn the program around. We would have seen more obvious evidence of that next season IMO.

I don't believe anyone fully understands what he inherited or what Brady left behind. He inherited five quality seniors, and one quality junior. There were no quality underclassmen on that team. Brady signed no quality recruits. If you lose Chris Johnson, Garrett Temple, Marcus Thornton, and, the following year, Tasmin Mitchell, while you replace them with no quality players, you're going to suck. That's an automatic two year gap considering Louisiana had no talent in the two seasons following Greg Monroe. NONE.

I'm realistic enough to understand that, considering the state of our program when TJ first arrived, he probably wasn't going to stock the roster with out-of-state Mcdonald's All-Americans in the year following his arrival. Hell, if you take out his first recruiting class, which is only fair, he had only three full recruiting cycles. If you're objective, he signed some decent talent in those three classes. Each year, he increased the talent level of those classes. Last year was his best recruiting class. This year, a class of Hammink, Morgan, and Coleman could have gone a long way too.

I agree that our fans are bandwagon but after his 1st year Trent didn't give you anything that fans could rally around.

The roster has Hickey, JOB, and Turner(when he chooses to be good) and not much else if you don't want to kid yourself. Morgan is an unknown but leaving the program with 4 viable players ain't something to crow about.

You can get quality players who aren't All-Americans.

Last years class is the only one that was good. 2009 and 2010 were crap(Ralston and not one other SEC caliber player).

No we wouldnt. Here is precisely why. Trent had essentially screwed himself on depth WITH hamilton. We lost the only two guys who could give quality minutes down low off the bench and had NO ONE to replace them. Now we will be starting either ludwig or a guy that was getting chewed out for hitting a flat note in Tiger Rag last year.

My statement was RELATIVE TO WHAT TJ INHERITED. Trent fricking inherited NO underclass talent. You don't need thirteen top 100 recruits to make the NCAA tournament. We would have been projected to make the field next season with what we had coming back without Hamilton if we had signed Morgan, Coleman, Hammink, and some JUCO fill-in post player.

I'm not even going into the APR situation, which UCONN was just hit with a one year postseason ban. I fans would have gone fricking bananas about a one-year postseason ban. They would have been bitching to fire him solely because of that. It took TJ two years to remedy just that situation.

Trent is a mediocre bench coach and an even worse recruiter. you can't win without being good at one of them

Just because drinking piss is better than eating turds that doesn't make it good. Either way he's not competing against Brady's teams and what Brady left him he's competing in the present.

By who? Since we weren't even on people's radar for next season with Ham coming back.
