We see things differently. I look at the bigger picture/trend. You look at results. My argument is that results would have come next year, and I base that argument on the overall trend under TJ. I believe the strict results under TJ should be placed in context.
You base your criticism of TJ on results without looking at the larger trend, which can be fair at times. You also interpret the context differently.
We're arguing on two different planes.

Why do you think no one wants to play for Trent? His complete lack of decent recruiting and the abundance of guys with eligibility who have left for whatever reason...

I see that next season, even with Hamilton leaving, we have the pieces in place to make the tournament. I want TJ to stay because I believe we would have made the tournament next season.
Gonna strongly disagree with you on this point.

Agree to disagree then but I don't think anyone looking rationally at next year's squad would see a tourney team.

Not without Hamilton.

So for us to make the tourney like in your example we were going to have to have by far trents best recruiting class in his time at LSU. Not to be primed to make a run but just to be in contention for a spot in it. In year 5.

I disagree with this sentiment. I can recall only two players who left under TJ who were even decent players: Bo Spencer and Hamilton.
I attribute TJ's recruiting failures to the state of our program. Is TJ partially to blame for this? Yes. Do I believe everyone should rejoice because we might lose TJ? No.
I believe everyone on this board would agree that if TJ came back next season, and we were easily in the NCAA tournament, almost everyone on the board would want TJ to remain the coach at LSU.
The question is then whether you believe we would have been easily in the NCAA tournament next season.
My argument is that assuming we sign Coleman, Hammink, Morgan, and a fill-in JUCO player, which seems like a relatively safe assumption, that we would have easily been in the NCAA tournament.
Most people disagree with this sentiment. Whatever. It's not a fact either way, and us making the tournament next year is plausible. I wanted to see TJ succeed here. I believe next year could have been a turning point.

I know for a fact that there are guys who left the program, decent or not, and Trent played a huge part in that.

This is where we separate. The first three years of TJ's tenure, both good and bad, I attribute mainly to Brady. It's the exact same reason why everyone was skeptical of Miles.
Saban left the cupboard stacked. Everyone attributed Miles' successes to the stacked cupboard Saban left behind. I'm doing exactly the same thing, except Brady didn't leave the cupboard stacked.

Trent should have hired Randy Livingston every single time there was an opening on staff and he continuously slapped RL in the face.

Not really.

I don't disagree with this. I wish TJ had decided to look harder at a St. Aug coach or someone with serious ties to this state much earlier in his tenure. I don't mind Brent Scott or Coach G, but the third guy on staff should have been a bag-man.

maybe. maybe I've heard it from the mouths of people close to the program that RL would like to be an assistant here

Brady in fact left the cupbard stacked enough to win the SEC in Trents first year. So what does trent do to build off that? Not sign a single legit player in his first class. At that point and the next year or two Baby Tyrus and Thorton were still fresh on recruits minds. Fans were still interested. That was his window. He couldnt pull players then.

Yeah, and maybe he would have been what we needed. But on the same front, he knew what he needed to do and he never really put himself into a position to do it. Right or wrong, you can't act like Randy was just trying to beef up that resume all this time, because he wasn't.

I like Randy, and would have no problem with him as an assistant at LSU. However, not hiring a former player is not a "slap in the face."

huh? you don't have to believe me really but I think you know I don't BS about hoops but RL expressed that he'd like to be a coach here.

Yeah well what players over the last four years were anywhere close to the talent we had in this state under Brady. TJ sucked recruiting and evaluating, but let's not act like the state was brimming with talent because it wasn't. Far from it.
