LSU only wore purple for their home opener as long as it wasn't a conference game. Read above. LSU wore purple against Oregon State in 04 (for example), but has worn white vs SEC opponents for almost two decades

The Vandy game was because of Dinardo. He just left Vandy and they said no to LSUs request, so LSu wore yellow.
Then, Spurrier said he wanted to wear white when we went there in 08, and LSU obliged...but we wore yellow rather than purple

We always choose to wear white in our home openers. OOC teams can refuse it, but not the teams who we are paying to come play us. Which is why we wore white at home against App State.
