It seems strange that we have to grease their wheels while they hold higher education funding hostage.
Seems like a perfectly good reason to grease the wheels if you ask me

Seems like it, but that doesn't make it ethical for either side.

As long as they take them out of ULL's allotment.

I don't say it often, but for this I say frick LSU
Those cocksuckers haven't been to a single game yet they get to jump in front of real fans....and all this after publicly embarrassing the university with the threat of having no funds?
Oh yeah, frick Alleva as well. To come out and PUBLICLY announce this is dumb as frick.
Oh, he mad

How is this corruption, you idiot? The tickets are being SOLD. Do you understand the concept of selling? Maybe your mommy gives you everything so you don't understand how things work in a capitalistic society.
LSU depends on the members of the state legislature for..............wait a minute..........it's coming.............FUNDING. SHAZAAAM!
Now if LSU was a pure commercial enterprise and the legislature were good customers that spent a lot of money with that business, wouldn't it make sense to treat them well? Salesmen take good customers to lunch, to dinner, golfing, fishing, etc all of the time. How would this be different? In this case LSU isn't giving the tickets away but selling them at face value.
The lack of understanding by some of you of the real world and how it operates is frightening. Some people are indeed more valuable to LSU than others. I'm sorry if you fall in to the lesser value group, but that's just tough.
I don't know what galaxy you are from but you apparently have no clue as to how things work here on Earth.
Grow the frick up.

Didn't even read through entire thread but Gray nailed it.

What is funny about all of this is that most legislators have the means to buy a really good seat by going on the ticket exchange or stub hub.
However, most of them would rather sit where you can't see jackshit? They are probably oblivious to so many other options.

Elected officials being given things that nobody else is given is the definition of corruption. If you think these clowns are giving these tickets to lowly "constituents," I have a bridge for sale. These same people spend thousand and thousands in campaign funding for suites in Tiger Stadium.

Nobody is debating that. Giving them something of value to garner favor is the very definition of corruption. I'm sure you could find many Tiger fans who would pay to get first dibs on tickets while not having to wait in line. That gives this monetary value.
Congrats on your cursory understanding of ethics.

You idiot they weren't given the tickets. They have to BUY them.

You need to go public with this shocking revelation. Which legislators? How many thousands?

Again, oh mighty galactic crusader, they have to purchase the tickets. Then you have to be able to draw a direct quid pro quo to prove corruption. Can you do that?

Who would these pure and innocent Tiger fans have to pay to not stand in line? What is the going price? Is this how its done on your home planet?

Congrats on your total ignorance of reality.
I think you would be best served if you stick with zooming around in your fantasy universe.

This is a common thing. It happens every year and at all major state schools across the nation. It's definitely not just a Louisiana thing.
Schools give state lawmakers special access to athletic events, those lawmakers sometimes use the tickets themselves and other times give them to "constituents" either to garner good will or donations. Schools hope that the legislators remember them come funding time. Though of course, it's not like they only offer tickets to the legislators that support higher education, they offer them to everyone.
It's ethically dubious, but at least at the moment, it's common practice everywhere.

ULL, Tulane, etc. in the legislature is getting tickets too, not just the LSU representation...
and if Lafayette was hosting the super regional they'd probably do the same thing in an even smaller stadium

Have you ever taken a professional ethics class? Not having a set price doesn't mean it doesn't have value. Giving away something of ANY value in order to garner favor is unequivocally unethical and if you do not believe that, you are an unethical moron.
Posted on 6/3/15 at 11:11 am to Galactic Inquisitor
Even though you asked the other guy, I'll answer.
Several.
It does have a set price, and that price is being paid in full. I've never run into an ethics class that said allowing someone to buy something at the full retail price is unethical.
Not giving it away. Now if they were giving it away as you worded, yes there would be ethical implications. But there isn't, so save your name calling for someone else.
I'd like to thank you in advance for the downvote. Know that it really hurts me deeply, and I think about it all day.

Merriam-Webster defines Corruption as: "dishonest or illegal behavior especially by powerful people (such as government officials or police officers)"
What are they doing that is either dishonest or illegal?
quote:

See the above definition.
Be outraged that legislators are getting access to tickets after almost bankrupting the school is one thing, but your definition of "corruption" is incorrect.

LSU is offering to sell all 144 state House and Senate members two tickets for all three games, if needed, in the best two of three series that starts on Saturday night at Alex Box Stadium.
Happens all the time in every sport at LSU. Nothing new.
