The problem seems deeply institutional. Firing an Alleva alone won't solve it. They'll just find the next crony to replace him. Have to fire him and go deeper.

Just another story of the rich and entitled fricking over everybody else. I thought this was evident in Louisiana for a long time.

The state is run like a banana republic. Why should the Flagship be any different?

You don't realize how dysfunctional and trashy LA is until you leave. Seems its only redeeming quality is the food.

Great Division 1 College football programs print money for their schools. LSUs leadership is divided and none of them realize college football is the biggest opportunity for revenue growth... we will find ourselves back here again if we don't change the current leadership/decision making structure...

I am so glad this is becoming more publicly discussed or recognized as opposed to the conversations by tailgates before games.

Spend time with any professor who has been invested in the university for a while and they have been watching this general sickness growing over the last decade.

It is only going to get worse without severe intervention. My question is: who is the person or persons that could step in and make a difference?

Look man, LA has been circling the bowl for a long time, you could make a case that Katrina money put off the inevitable but that cash is gone and oil is down.

And we cut education and healthcare to keep the ponzi scheme workable. I have two degrees from LSU and three children none of whom will go to LSU.

Yeah, if you have a kid that's a sophomore, junior or senior in high school, I just can't see putting LSU on the list as anything but the ultimate fallback school.

Breaks my heart to say it but...

LSU is one of the top football revenue producers in the country. Have been a while. How can they not know that?

This may be true but if you make the right hire no one would even care.

Big time truth. Idiots running the show are in disagreement on everything, and their opinions are all wrong anyway.

I know I certainly didn't go to LSU for the academics. If you take away what LSU was, no one will want to go there.

It's like they haven't ever asked themselves why people would choose LSU over another school

With them, it’s probably more about how do I get my due and proper

This is one of the saddest things I've read on here in a long time. FWIW, my daughters didn't choose LSU either even though both could have gone there. My son did. The girls said that it was the culture as the biggest problem. Didn't feel like it was a "fit" for them.

LSU was a magical place but you cant cut funding every fricking year and expect it to stay that way. And as painful as it is you have a duty as parent to get your kids the best education you can.

My stepdad was on the board, left in the last few years. I don’t know his care for LSU as an institution but I can tell you he is 100% a typical political POS & couldn’t give 2 shits about whether LSU wins or loses a football game. I sat with the board for every home game for about 8 years. I’d say it’s split right down the middle of ones who care about the program and ones who don’t. 1/2 were politicking in the suite, half never left their seat during the game.
I know the president of the board very well, and I can tell you he’s one of the most genuine people you’ll ever meet and cares deeply about LSU.
