But how anyone can say there is defensive improvement when UF gets 300 yards is beyond me.
If you only look at the sheer numbers, then yeah. However, a good portion of those yards came on some terrible pass coverage (which is our supposed strength), and 60-something was on a single play.

The front seven played much better, but no one is asserting that we wouldn't still get arse-raped by the teams who did so to us this year.

In all honesty, if Miles can get us 3-2 on the way to a .500 record in the West that would be a major accomplishment!

Oct 18 Kentucky W
Oct 25 Ole Miss L
Nov 8 Alabama L
Nov 15 @Arkansas W
Nov 27 @Texas A&M W

I think we can play with anyone left on the schedule. Kentucky is a must win tough. Considering they had Florida in the Swamp and let them off the hook, it should be a difficult game for the Tigers at home. There is so much parity in the SEC and the West is murders row. I mean, we could lose out!

ETA: LSU must control line of scrimmage on offense and put together long drives with TD's. Kentucky will try to take away the run so LSU will need to focus on spread. I think we can run the ball very effectively from the gun especially if zone reads are called on regular basis.

Jennings needs to focus on theowing fades inside 30 yards as percentages are significantly reduced the longer the throw. Dural, Dupre, Diarse are all great at adjusting to under thrown balls. Quinn is good on the drags and out routes especially. I would like to see a variety of screens. If you watch Kentucky you will see a mix of Fast, Slow, Jailbreaks, Bubbles etc.. Neil Brown is a friend of mine as has played against Chavis in the past at Troy. Remember Troy being up like 35-10 at half a few years ago? Neil was the OC then he went to Texas Tech and put in for Southern Miss job. Later Stoops brought him to Kentucky. Brown was GA under Mumme.

Yeah, it couldn't have anything to do with playing the #1 team in the nation vs playing the dumpster fire that is UF. I think you would have a better case arguing that maybe we aren't as bad as we thought since we were basing our opinions off two legitimate top 10 teams. And we're only really gonna see that again with Ole Miss.

They looked better in this game no doubt. I will feel more comfortable saying this if we see 2 consistent weeks of this kind of play. Let's be real here, Florida played like shite and shot themselves in the foot a lot in that game.

When we see them string it together for 2 weeks in a row then they've made significant improvement because it shows they can consistently do it.

Pump the brakes.

The reason we made "major improvement" is that Florida is terrible and MSU and Auburn are good. I may not be the smartest guy in the world, but even I can figure out that it's easy to look better against bad teams.

By the way, do you think our passing game made "major improvement" against UF? Midway through the 4th quarter, we had less than 50 yards passing.

Hey, I'll take the win, but those were two evenly-matched below average SEC teams. We still play Ole Miss, Bama, Arky, and A&M.

Thank You! Florida is a bad football team. Amazing that they were actually worse than us. Great team win, but it was a security blanket for most people, much like the Wisconsin game.

Are you really comparing a game against a team like MSU to a game against a dumpster fire team like UF?

LSU looked great against SHSU and ULM too, what's your point?

It's the same fricking team that beat UK, yet these monkeydicks are sure LSU will lose to UK at home no less.

As BOX said, in-fricking-tolerable

UK has shown significant improvement each week of this season and is a serious threat to beat LSU. They lost to UF at UF in overtime, while LSU barely won based very partly on luck.

Are they going to win? I don't know. Can they win? Yup, they are a very well coached team. LSU, on the other hand, has not looked like it all season against opponents with a pulse.

Unlike UF, UK has a decent QB, so that will be another thing. Why is someone predicting a potential loss to UK such a big deal to you? Even if we do, it will just be the youth excuse anyways, so what's your worry?

Is that even close to what I said? You're trying to downplay the defense's performance. I'm countering with actual facts.

Again, with Driskill, UT's defense held UF to 0 points for an entire game. When Harris came in, things changed. Had UT won that game 9-0, would you be claiming how great our defense did?

Even with Harris, UF had 232 yards against Tennessee. Without him they had 191 yards. LSU gave up 306 yards to UF ignoring two punt returns that either gave them a TD or a short field.

UF's offense is HORRIBLE. STRAIGHT BAD! Stop trying to act like LSU shut down even a mediocre offense. They equaled LSU's yardage even with basically two less drives. Think about that.

Improvement...yes....major???? Not so much. We really need to play a good team again to see where we are. UK will be a decent test but not as much as the following week.

Florida TE dropped a wide open touchdown at the end for UF to kick a fg to tie it.

oh and the defense made jeff driskel look good for most of the game before he imploded at the end.

For comparison, Florida D is ranked 40th in total defense, LSU is 29th.
In scoring defense, Florida is 43rd, LSU 17th.

They are NOT a great defense like you guys keep saying.

They aren't great, but they aren't terrible. They lost a game against Idaho that would have made their numbers better. That needs to be considered when one looks at their total numbers. It would be like dropping the Sam Houston or ULM game from LSU's stats.
