its a frickING BILLBOARD!!

it was ever actually intimidating man.... good lord!

it was just the name given to it.... Jesus

Then why did they call it that. Why didn't they call it John, or Robert? Probably because it was intended to intimidate. Whether it did or not is debatable.

Negative. Just don't want to live in the past (like a school a couple states to our east).

That is not possible, unless LSU puts up a Bertman statue..23 years after he's dead.

How in the hell did we sign any good players before the billboard?

Better yet, how did we stop signing good players after we had the billboard?

Not even going there.

Aren't we putting one up sooner or later at the New Box? I honestly can't remember.

So that's 1 vote for putting Mike's cage in the other teams dugout.

Not at all. On the outfield wall would be fine. Or raising some flags would be nice as well.

I'm thoroughly confused.

So flags are good.

On the wall is good.

But on a billboard is sooo bad.

When we win a national championship again in the next few years, we could just add it to the board. I love the Intimindator. It adds something to the park. Maybe it won't fit in the new park, but I would love if they could bring it over. 2000 is not that far off. People know this program's past. We are still getting top tier recruits. They know that LSU screwed up by hiring Smoke Laval. They also saw what Mainieri did last year in his second year and that we are preseason #1 this year. They know this program is headed back in the right direction. It will only be a short time before we are adding another championship to the billboard. If I was a player, I would still find it intimidating.

we should get a huge billboard in right field with bigfoot and a t-rex holding AK-47's and pointing them at the opposing dug out, thats fricking intimidating. I for one thought the intimidator was bad arse. It looks way cooler than some flag just sitting there in the outfield. Might not be "scary" but it a damn good way to show the national titles your program has won even if it was in the 90's.

we aren't Alabama. We shouldnt live in the past. We can honor those championships and display flags, etc in their honor. But no need for that monsterous billboard at the new park

I like this idea but tiger is so damn spoiled we cant even get him out of his cage for football games.. He would probably roll over and let them pet his stomach in there. We got to toughen Mike up.. That old crappy cage sure make Mike V pissy.

Quick q for the “anti’s”…..

On the back of one of the scoreboards in TS it’s clearly marked ’58, ’03, and ’07 in HUGE numbers. Should we take that down? That’s embarrassing that we’re remembering 58. hell, 03’s already 6 years ago. We = bama. We clearly need to forget about all of that.

And to think, that thing’s visible to WAY more people than the intimidator.

But that's besides the point. I'm 20 now. Championships from (soon to be) 2 decades ago are hardly intimidating. They definitely need to be displayed somehow (flags, something on the outfield wall, etc) but keep it understated.

It's humorous that your point is that because opposing players truly aren't intimidated by the billboard, that it shouldn't be up.

I think you are taking things a little too literally.

Having said that, Alex Box certainly is intimidating...and the billboard is a small part of that. Hell, in our last series, a super regional, in the 9th freaking inning, in a series in which our opponent held a 1 game lead and a 3 run lead, their head coach was on the mound actually commenting to his team that he hated this fricking place and that they needed to get out of here. He was feeling the heat and so was his team. They couldn't get out of it. And they totally self destructed from there on out.

The billboard is a small part of the intimidation that is Alex Box and it just reminds opponents that LSU and Alex Box is a place that is different that where they come from.

Now, if your argument is that it's tacky, and just doesn't fit the style of the new stadium, then you may have a better point.

It's a frickin billboard, why do people think that it has somehow helped LSU baseball or is a part of the "legacy"? We have'nt won many more championships since it was put at the old Box, so why do people love it? put that graphic on the outfield wall if it is a must have.

nothing in any of LSU's sports arenas stands out and is more in your face than the giant LAMAR advertisement in right field.
