You should be caught up in how it looks because that is having a direct impact on the game. Failing to gain 70 yards in a half 7 times in a career makes it hard to win a game. Failing to score more that 17 points in November makes it hard to win a football game. If it looked better, we'd be more productive, and in better position to win.

People are divorcing the efficiency from the result. If LSU can score on anyone and control the ball, it will look great and LSU will win more. Pretending they aren't related is foolish.

Les Miles did.

You'll have to forgive me for expecting that you would state things that are truthful given you know what words mean. Maybe you should work on that, Mr. Lexicographer.

Houston is now the 4th largest metro area in the US. That alone makes them viable for all 5 conferences

But which one? Which conference that makes sense needs more exposure in the Houston area?

I haven't stated anything that isn't truthful. But apparently only being a negative person regarding LSU football is acceptable at the moment.

I'm not separating them. They're one in the same. All the ugliness leads to 3 losses or else we wouldn't be having this conversation. The point is that I'm not caught up in the style one way or the other. Stanford runs a very similar style and they overachieved tremendously. Teams run a wide open offense and lose too.

If Miles wants to do it his way, that's fine if he wins. Plain and simple.

Big 12 will take them if UT gives the go ahead. PAC 12 is the next option, but I don't think they're even looking to expand at this point.

The reality of the situation is they will go to the Big 12 in the next year or two, or the PAC 12 will pick them up, IMO. The SEC is going to expand in North Carolina & Virgina before taking another Texas team and the ACC isn't going that far West unless they're forced. None of that mean Houston isn't a viable option for them all though.

Keep in mind this is all speculation and me trying not to get my hopes up that LSU lands Herman. I don't think it happens unless Houston stays in the American conference.

I'm not advocating for a system. I'm advocating for a functional offense. If we ran the flexbone and gained yardage at will I would be just as pleased as if we ran air raid or a multiformation prostyle. The offense as constructed currently can't accommodate anyone we recruit at quarterback. It looks bad and it is bad. It is time to make it work however you want to do that. Win or lose, we should be trying to have a good offense and defense!

Watching LSU on the offensive side of the ball truly is painful. There seems to be no creativity or imagination with the scheme. The most frustrating thing about it all is knowing that the potential to be explosive is just one coach away.

I don't expect Madden jockeys to understand real football.
If you want a hundred plus points a game go home and crank up your Xbox

absurd response - projecting an extreme to make the real argument seem irrational.

Nobody wants 100 points per game. We just want a competent, functional offense.

You said you wouldn't enjoy winning every game if it wasn't a certain style. That is the point.

No, the point is that if you are constantly struggling to win 3-2 over teams you should be blowing out, you are giving yourself no margin for error and you are not going to go undefeated like that.

You pumpers have to be just trolling at this point because no one is really that clueless.

We just need to not go 3 and it so much.

We aren't a tempo team and that's ok. But we can't be a shite team.

That is TFGN57's entire gig on this board, an exercise in absurdity. If anyone posts anything that is not licking Miles' arse, he absolutely loses his shite.

However, shitting all over the players like he does all the time is perfectly fine because in his mind it gives an excuse for Miles.

People like him are Les Miles fans. They are not LSU fans, never have been LSU fans and never will be LSU fans. If Les Miles' and LSU's interests conflict, they will every single time root for Les and against LSU. Every single time. It's just who the pumpers are.

I'm not a pumper but the point is all about wins. You're absolutely correct about margin for error and whatnot, but as long as you still win, even with the miniscule margin for error, no one should care how it looks. I'm not talking about winning 9 games a year and being happy about the way it looks, I'm talking about wins in general.

If you lose too often, your style of play doesn't matter IMO, regardless of how pretty or ugly it is.

I'll post what I posted in another thread on just how good Houston and Herman are.

"They are playing much better than I expected them to at the beginning of the year because they lost a lot. Top WR (98 rec 1222 yards 6 TDs), Top 3 RBs (339 car 1642 yards 20 TDs), both offensive tackles, all but one player in the secondary and both inside LBs.

The game was close last year as Houston won 33-30 vs Cincinnati. They just won 40 to 16 now with Greg Ward and the starting RB dealing with injuries that made them miss the last game."

The fact is, even with a QB with an injured shoulder, he is successful passing the ball, and really had to because they couldn't run very well.

Herman with Louisiana RBs, WRs, and dual threat QBs, would rape the SEC.

Houston is a huge city but the University of Houston doesn't have a huge sports followingin the city. It lacks tradition and the generations of dyed in the wool fans that come with that. Much of the city's population comes from elsewhere and has allegiance to LSU, TAM, Baylor or Texas. The school itself has more of a commuter school feel to it, like UNO on a much bigger scale.

the expectation is that with continued success and the allure of being in a big conference, the program will become more than it is. Maybe it will but it'll take years of consistent success to get there.
