The 4th and 6 debacle was only 1 player?

One of the local talk show guys (I think it was Songy) was saying that the 4th and 6 fire drill came down to only one person and it was a player, not a coach.

I figure if anyone can back that up or shoot it down, it's the Rant.

So, what was it in that specific instance? (I understand, of course, that the HC is ultimately responsible for the readiness of all of his team).

The coach might be responsible,..but he can't PLAY for the players, in the end, its all about how THE PLAYER OR PLAYERS PERFORM....

It looked to me that Deangelo Peterson ran the wrong route. I might be wrong, but that's the only thing that makes sense to me.

RS goes in motion and takes the MLB with him. The middle of the field is left open. Either TT or DP needs to get to the middle of the field as they were both in one-on-one coverage.

ETA: My assumption is based on the fact that TT ran a three yard hitch to avoid clogging the middle.

That being said, when Lee started to scramble, TT should have made a break to give him somewhere to throw the ball.

RS didn't know he was supposed to be on the field.

JL knows something is wrong and is trying to get TT to the other side.

RS comes on the field, now TT is confused if he should be on the field or not.

Now, this play gets snapped with RS, TT, and JL all confused. How that shite happens after a timeout is beyond me.

TT stopped trying. He didn't block. He didn't attempt to get a route run. He had his back facing the defender and he was watching Lee run towards him. He was fricking clueless out there.

It was a trick play. False fake confusion. Auburn was supposed to think Tolliver was hauling arse off the field. Cornerback didn't fall for it.

Just like that fake field goal at Florida week. They piddled around and wasted seconds on purpose. It never crossed Florida's mind that LSU would waste a lot of seconds and then fake the field goal. Miles was hoping for a TD on the play.

I think this is the most likely thing from trying to remember back to the play.

I saw this. No effort to run a route or block. He quit.

It doesn't matter who made the wrong play. What matters is that we should not have been in this position, and after a timeout there should have been no miscues. Everything should have gone off perfectly on the play. Convert or not, but it should have been executed.

Someone ran the wrong route. Lee went to throw, the receiver wasn't there, and Lee freaked out.

What sucks is if Lee stayed with the play and looked over to the right, he might have been able to hit Peterson on the out for the 1st down.

This play was doomed before it got started so don't suggest Lee somehow blew it. Far from the truth...

I noticed on the replay RS was about to go out on the field but a coach grabbed his jersey and yanked him back. About 5-10 secs later the same coach grabbed him frantically and told him to get out there.

Trick or busted play if TT blocks JL gets the first down.

I'd have to look at the replay again, but from what I saw, if TT blocks, JL will still be about a yard short from other pursuers.
