Good luck and thanks, Chief, for all you did for LSU while you were here. For the most part, your defenses were pretty stout and in my opinion, you did your job well. Of course, you'll understand that I can only wish you well as long as we are not playing you.
I wish every coach on the LSU staff were as competent as you were. Oh well, one can only wish.....

While Chief is a good coach and got results we should not be thanking him given how he left LSU.

Great post.

Chavis is one of the best coaches the Tigers have ever had. He was certainly the best thing this program had going for it the last few years. I think LSU can replace him, but we should be thankful for his years of putting together great defenses for our Tigers.

You mean for a team that offered more money without caveats that were untenable to him?

The proper Rant wording would be:

Thanks for all you did, Chief. Now that you're with the Aggies, GFY!

STTDB!

At last, I've found some sort of brain matter on this site! Haters, be gone!

Do you think Chavis reads the rant? If not, why would you post it here?

It's about as stupid as people who wish their S/O Happy Birthday on Facebook.

I agree-best coach on staff and a tremendous DC, and I thank him for his help in making LSU's reputation for great defense. That said, neither he nor the AD handled this well (or professionally).

Thanks for leaving your players' hanging, being known as a "loyal" man and your actions proving otherwise. You're Tiger Bait now! So, I don't wish luck to a competitor, and that's what you are now.

I don't understand how people can be this grateful when it's your teams' competition. Had he retired, I'd understand the warm wishes, but he didn't, so

Do you think the players read the rant? If so, why wouldn't the coaches? And if by chance he would read it he would realize that some of us appreciated his contributions.
With that said, you my friend, are an arse!

Couldn't agree with you more, I am sorry Chief left but truly appreciate his contributions to LSU.

I'll thank him but I refuse to wish him goodluck.
Dude bounced over money. He wasn't loyal to LSU or anything. It's a business. Not sure why anyone would wish him goodluck while he's trying to beat LSU now.
All in all, lame thread.

I think the record will show that he wilted in big games. He was also blessed with arguably the best talent in school history . And he had a 58-year old ego tantrum and went out like a little bitch to a team in his own division, staining his relationship with his LSU players. And he will find tough sledding ahead at A&M for obvious reasons. I don't wish him ill, but let's not "Disney-fy" his resume. He's not the defense Fairy.

What was the past is the past. Now Chavis is,as before when he was with Tennessee, merely TIGER BAIT.
