"Well I shut Calvin Johnson down"

They weren't matched up that many times, but they did play well(not great) against our guys. I think Verrett was on Landry more. #25 White I think was his name covered OBJ3 more. But like was said in a previous post if the wideout had over 100 yds against your team then he wasn't shut down.

This guy sounds like the second coming of Richard Sherman.

Shut down means shut down. Odell wasn't shut down. Period.

I thought I remembered he had near perfect coverage on Jarvis Landry that resulted in a TD. Just a ridiculous catch by landry.

The kid is a real good corner. Even against LSU you could tell he has a lot of talent in man to man.

did you actually look up to see how many of these catches came against Verrett? Or did you just look at his stats from the box score and quote that?

Probably just looked at stats. Either way. You should never say you "shutdown" a receiver who went for over 100 yards on your team.

Could not agree more. I love DB's, but they are a different cat whent it comes to this stuff. I guess they are taught to have short term memory, LOL. They make ONE play and they "locked you down" in their eyes. I have seen them make a YouTube video of their one play, I have seen them and their coaches say these things when the WR still puts up a bunch of catches and yards, it is funny how they see things.

My favorite out of all of them is when they are assigned to the WR man to man and can squat on all the short routes, get safety help if they get beat deep, get LB help on inside routes, but THEY were the ones that "locked you down".

well he was holding Landry's hand back and Landry just caught it with the other one.

He's a physical corner who interferes a lot, which is exactly what you want IMO. They don't call it enough to make it not worth it

Well, technically Verrett didn't say he shut down Landry

If Beckham really did only catch 1 ball against him, then I'd consider that shutting down.

If he had stated that TCU shut down Beckham and/or Landry, then that would be a damn lie.

Then how stupid are TCU's coaches for not having him cover OBJ the entire game?

So one of three things happened here:

- He was on OBJ with 100+ yards
- He was on Landry with 100+ yards
- He wasn't responsible for either

None of those look good.

More like he was all over Landry holding him and Landry still made him look like a bitch.

I know for sure 50 of those yards weren't on him.

What he meant to say was "I PI'ed Odell Beckham" They were getting away with murder in that game.

Guess their coach is a moron since he had a lock down corner and didn’t match him up with OBJ the whole game

Such a nice guy. He let him have a 100 yards before putting the clamps down.

Same here but fighting with this crowd is a losing cause!

That's like saying Keenan Lewis didn't shut down Desean Jackson in the Saints/Eagles playoff game since DJ went off after Lewis left the game being hurt. B/c, as a team, DJ caught 3 passes for 55 yards but none being against Lewis.
