Brew - I agree with you on the OC situation but I've asked this before and never got an answer: who is a viable candidate for the job? Everyone's crying and screaming that we need a new coordinator but they can never offer an idea for a good replacement

I can't name any names off hand, but the characteristic I'm looking for in what I want for an OC is someone with a set of balls, that is going to call the plays that he wants to call and sets up the offense to keep the defense guessing at all times; someone that will have opposing defenses staying up late into the night breaking down film the week they play LSU.

There's no way any team can maintain success despite it's head coach.

It unlikely in the NFL where parity rules but its possible in the college ranks where overwhelming talent advantages are the norm.

The OVERWHELMING majority of LSU fans support both Les Miles and recognize his achievements, AND die a little death every time the LSU offense runs off the field after yet another disastrous 3 and out.

We are a greatly conflicted fanbase.
We are all in on THE GOOD.
And yet we are just tired of banging our heads with The Bad.
It's not pretty.

Then name another college program that maintains success despite it's head coach?

Look at Miami and Larry Coker.

There are a lot of people who consider a three loss season by this LSU team to be a less than successful effort. If this is maintaining success then Les is our guy.

You proved my point... I'm not saying that we should keep the offense the same but for God's sake, with all 273 threads a day about how we need a new OC, someone should have a good suggestion...

Larry Coker was 35-3 after three seasons at Miami and 60-15 over six years.

Coker was successful but not a great coach. Miami won games in spite of Coker not because he was there.

A program that declined year after year under him and was fired after 6 years, losing 6 games including 4 straight in his last season. Not to mention having bench clearing brawls during games also led to his firing. In Miles' seventh year we were back in the National Championship after winning the SEC in an undefeated regular season.

This year was a slight disappointment, affected by some coaching mistakes, as well as injuries and losing Mathieu but I would say 6 losses over the past 3 years is maintaining success.

Sorry man. I'm not too keen on the best coaching candidates out there. Which is why I don't start threads about it.

Very different pattern. Last season was one of the greatest seasons of all time.

TM7, Faulk, Hurst, Williford, Blue etc. This season could have been very different and yet LSU lost to the eventual National Champs, and another 1 loss SEC team. Too many here have no perspective.

We're 0fer in bCS games since 2007, and 1-4 in our bowl games.

Do you consider that an up or downward trend????

I sure hope you feel better after that mental effort on behave of Miles ... why do you think we are having the biggest mass exodus in recent history? It ain't that all these guys are first round draft picks.

Hope you enjoy the 5-6 loss season this year. I will be looking for your sunshine pumping then.

I consider 6 losses in 3 years time and upward trend.

Clearly its a matter of perspective. Going into Tuscaloosa and winning in 2011 along with an SEC title made for a highly successful season.

Losing three games in 2012 when you were favored in 12 of 13 games is a less than successful season IMHO.

I'm not calling for Les' head on a platter but I am concerned with the results of the 2012 season and how this may trend going forward.

I'm in a very "it's whatever" mode about the LSU program. It's time for a break from CFB and I'm glad it's here.

we don't want to get rid of miles. he's a great coach. he's done great things. he'll continue to do some great things.

I'm not ready to call him a great head coach when he is to stubborn to see that he is a cancer to our offensive production and development.

The defensive may be young. But, i'm still happy that we are able to recruit talent that can come in and immediately get PT .

we don't know why miles won't do it- we've seen that he is quite capable of doing it. He did what he needed to do to keep our defense and special teams as some of the best in the country. why not the offense? why?

this question keeps getting asked - reasonably from reasonable fans, and all we get is name calling.

we don't want to get rid of miles. he's a great coach. he's done great things. he'll continue to do some great things.

We sure would like to see some loving attention poured on the offense.

Thank you. This pretty much spells it all out.
