Pistol Pete has a retired number AND the arena named after him. Either one of those honors is very rare, even for a HOF player. Having both says all I need to know.

This. A statue isn't necessary.

And I have no problem with the graduation requirement for the HOF.

I brought this up a few months back. I think it's a great idea and I'm looking forward to seeing a statue of the greatest college basketball player ever on campus.

So what you're saying is we need to erect Pete!

I was just thinking how this is one of the most pressing issues in this state and I wish the legislature would get involved.

Senator John Alario has proposed a resolution urging LSU to erect a statue of Pete Maravich on campus. I think this is a wonderful idea and should be good enough to get Alario out of any hot water he may be in.

I laughed audibly thinking this was a hilarious sarcastic post. Then I read the rest of your post and realized you seem to be serious.

Alario is being investigated as we speak by the FBI for trying to write off business expenses like LSU football tickets, stadium suites, etc. He's been one of the ubiquitous Louisiana good 'ol boy career politicians that has used his office for personal gain and has been self-serving long enough....time to goooooooo!

What most of you don't realize is that in addition to not graduating, Pete was kicked out of school for not attending classes.

We should also get rid of the ridiculous requirement that a college degree be necessary to get in to the LSU Hall of Fame
Or, since he didn't return to school like Shaq - give Pete an honorary diploma since he passed away. Let the sons accept before tipoff of a game.

Voila, Pete's in the hall.

The Mick, your proposal actually makes sense. So of course, it is unlikely to happen.
