Senator John Alario has proposed a resolution urging LSU to erect a statue of Pete Maravich on campus. I think this is a wonderful idea and should be good enough to get Alario out of any hot water he may be in. We should also get rid of the ridiculous requirement that a college degree be necessary to get in to the LSU Hall of Fame. With most of the top players leaving early, this rule is obsolete. It would exclude the best of the best. Any LSU sports HOF without Pistol Pete in it lacks credibility as far as I am concerned.

You are aware that there is a large circular building on campus that bears his name, right?
Off the top of my head I can't think of any college basketball stadiums named after someone who was strictly a former player

I would love to see a statue of pete...he is one of the most heralded atheletes ever to grace the campus...
however, I think the idea of a politician "urging" LSU to spend money on a statue while the same body of folks has basically bankrupted the place is a bunch of hooey...
if the senate wants a statue on LSU campus, they should come up with the money and fund it...

In order to reach the LSU Sports Hall of Fame, you must enter the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. That's right ... the building is named for Pete, who has not been named to the LSU Sports Hall of Fame. Maybe the Hall of Fame should be relocated until Pete gets admitted.
