I know this has been discussed a lot this year so bear with me, but I can't hold my tongue and am posting here with hopes someone from the gameday media team reads tiger rant.

The gameday experience in Tiger Stadium (from a media team / production perspective) is an absolute embarrasment right now.

Aside from the inexcusable rediculousness of the video board malfunctioning the entire first half, the production team responsible for audio/video has zero concept of game flow or how to influence (or take advantage of) momentum during the game.

How many times after a big play was there complete silence from the band or no music playing on the speakers?

Why have they gotten away from playing the "I'm from Louisiana" song before kickoffs? Three times during Saturdays game they played NOTHING after a score (after the band finished). Kickoffs are HUGE momentum opportunities after scores where the team can (and do) get super pumped and the crowd can carry that juice to the defense.

In the second half there was a huge 3rd down play following the introduction of the fighter pilots on the field. The media team played some ridiculous patriotic america song for 2 whole minutes leading up the the snap of the ball on 3rd down. Look, I am all for playing the "america" song, but please understand whats happening on the FIELD, and transition from that into a pump-up song to get the defense and crowd juiced for the 3rd down play.

There is no logic to when or why they play the "pump up videos" featuring players like Guice or DWhite yelling for they crowd to get into it. Its at random like someone says "oh yea... play that".

The songs they do play when they try and get the crowd involved are terrible and totally outdated.

Again, its really not even about what you are playing, its more about WHEN and WHY. Its like they write a pre-game script for when and what to play and they completely ignore whats happening on the field and when to capitalize on momentum.

Someone needs to take a long, hard look at the team who is responsible for A/V in the stadium and overhaul the game-day experience in death valley.

Look at a school like Mississippi State: 10 years ago Davis Wade was one of the most boring away games ever. Now, I am certain its one of the most fun gameday experiences in the SEC (aside from those damn cowbells- but hey... its their thing). They did what im calling for LSU to do - they overhauled their gameday experience, updated their playlist, pay attention to whats happening on the field, and if you have been in the past 5 years or watched the game against Alabama last weekend -- now their stadium is rocking.

With the venue, crowd and most importantly MONEY that goes into the LSU football program, attending a game in Tiger Stadium should be a seamless production that leaves lasting memories regardless of the games outcome. There is so much value in CREATING and CAPITALIZING on momentum during the game and we need to be better about it.

PS: Notice, I am not crapping on the band or the crowd noise. Both of those are an integral part of the gameday experience. The players are doing everything possible on the sidelines, but jumping and waving towels can only get you so far...

TL;DR: LSU needs to be better from a media perspective in tiger stadium (audio/visual).

The music is for the players.
you're expectations are too high, it's not a Pink Floyd concert

Meh, disagree. Especially if you’re referencing this past sat. The stadium filled up, minus the higher seats, with way more people than I thought would show for an 11 am game. Could it be better, sure anything can be better.

I wonder what effect TAF fees on tickets losing their tax deduction will have on LSU game days......

less people going to games; more watching from home (HD TV, convenience, etc)

less revenue inside the stadium; more revenue from TV ads

it's quite the conundrum because, in my opinion, the only way to improve stadium experience is to speed up the game. This cannot happen when marginal revenues are only coming from TV ads

Exactly. This is why I referenced the word "momentum" like 6 times. The players are doing everything possible to get pumped (which gets the crowd pumped).

Give them what they want. Defense was literally dancing on the field between plays anytime they played a song (which was rare).

Im not talking about how many people filled the stands and cheered.

So you agree they could do a better job.

Wow. That's a lot of typing to hate 20 second audio clips so much.

Are you shitting me?! That was the Hulk Hogan theme song! Me and 3 other guys sitting in our section were so pumped after that we ripped off our shirts like the Hulkster! Get a life, brother!

You are right. This even affects recruiting. The entire experience needs to be reevaluated.

“I’m from Louisiana” is retarded. I hope to never hear that again.

Shitey music aside, maybe it has something to do with, idk, how boring this team is to watch? Doesn't help when you don't have much more to play for after the inevitable Alabama loss every year.

No no, you are missing the point. I am talking about the media team doing the A/V in the stadium, not the crowd cheering or not cheering for the team.

The OP took the time to lay out his thoughts logically, in paragraph form, and even bolded the main topics. His points are well thought out, and have been echoed by several other fans. A lot of folks have no idea what he's talking about, because they don't regularly go to the games...that's fine. I wouldn't expect those folks to comment on the topic. For those that do go to the games, and have been in several other venues across the SEC, it is obvious that our "game day crew" is clueless. There are HS teams in the state that put on a better show.

Good thread OP. Keep fighting the good fight. If we didn't love and care about LSU, we wouldn't bitch.

Thanks baw, Just doing what I can.

Been sitting in the stadium every game wondering when we are going to change our ways and adapt to modern day.
