Ehhh I would classify the d-coordinator more as a major at least, if we're going to go all military here. Position coaches are lieutenants.

However, if Miles told him "Chill, bro. I got Pendergast lined up if Chavis bolts. We're old pals from coaching together in Dalls. I got this, yo." then that may have factored into Alleva giving Chavis the cold shoulder. Just a thought.

That's one way to look at it. After all, this is business.

I don't see Alleva not personally being involved as a valid reason for Chavis to leave.

I don't doubt your info, but your acceptance of this as an indication that Alleva screwed up is folly, IMO. If your info is 100% true, it just shows how egotistical Chavis was and how any offer below A&M was going to be viewed as an insult.

We may never know, I heard Chavis and CC absolutely hate each other and there is big time bad blood. At some point the truth will come out.

Might be true but come on, Miles was Chavis' direct boss. If Chief left b/c of this then he is a real pussy.

I agree, this ain't the Real Housewives of wherever. If true that's weak IMHO.

To be fair, if A&M came with that offer while he was already pissed, I'm sure it made his decision that much easier.

Well, Chief only answered to Miles, and was allowed to do whatever he wanted with the defense. Of course ego got in the way, as if LSU needed him, and would grant his every wish. For the most part, LSU did.

I am reminded how Miles played LSU against UM and he tried the same thing, Alleva so ridiculed for the extension and the raise to Miles maybe he decided to play hard ball at the wrong time, things often work that way, First guy through the door makes it but not the second

Noway in hell is Miles smart enough to have done behind the scenes work regarding Pendergast. If LSU lands Clancy, it will be b/c of luck.

does anyone else think this all started with muschamp? chavis wants to make more and alleva/miles know that muschamp isn't worth $1.7. in other words, when muschamp disappoints, and he will, miles and alleva know they will have shelled out for nothing. chavis gets chapped. leaves. lsu gets upgrade. miles and alleva are smarter than the negas/rantards on this board.

So Miles spoke to CP on Monday and the scuttlebutt is Miles wants a DC with SEC experience?

So Bob Shoop from Penn State really is a possibility then?

He coached at Vandy and is solid DC
