noway in hell is Miles smart enough to have done behind the scenes work regarding Pendergast. If LSU lands Clancy, it will be b/c of luck.

This makes Chavis look bad…more than Alleva
i'm starting to lean this way. chavis should know muschamp isn't worth $1.7. i understand that for some people, it's not the worth but the recognition of being the highest paid but, if that's the case with chavis then, he can walk. let auburn be the ones to waste money, not us.

So you met belowpar IRL ?

He knew because it said belowpar on his name tag.

Or he was with David Toms last night. (for those without their joke detector activated I don't think belowpar is DT)

Damn right Chavis looks bad here.

I know he's a player's coach and all, but the team needs to take a moment to realize what he has done.

Talk about conflict of interest. I won't go as far as to say he sabotaged us, but you damn well know he didn't put them in the best position to win.

He has let these kids down a lot the last two years. Leaving Welter out there made it easier on his calls, and less work on him developing a better player, but certainly handicapped the team. How many recruiting visits did he make to his area? Ever?

These kids will get over the initial shock and should come to realize that Chavis did them no favors here. And I don't mean he didn't do his job over the entire course of his stay.

Exactly! Need to make a quick hire so it does not adversely impact the recruiting class, and we get ready for spring practices! This too shall pass.... GT!!!

58 years old, status, respect, shitloads of money-VERY limited people skills-Results in a Temper tantrum. Nobody will regret this more than Chavis. He tantrumed and now he gets to try to Coach while his defense is on the field more than virtually any team in college football.

And maybe, just maybe, the thing that really angered Miles the most is that while Chavis sat there fuming for weeks over the "slight" he never once came to his boss (Miles) and said "look dude, I have a problem. You've gone to bat for me before and I need your help because I really would like to stay here"

To be fair, if A&M came with that offer while he was already pissed, I'm sure it made his decision that much easier.

A&M guys "in the know" were talking about Chavis negotiations towards the end of the regular season. This has been in the works for a while.

Alleva screwed up the Chavis deal. Not Miles.

As long as Alleva has the Duke Lacrosse case on his resume, it's pretty much impossible to discount incompetence on his part.

We pay our guys better than anyone....Chavis comes across as a scorned little girl.

We'll be fine.

Perhaps but given that he has a LONG history of coaching with NO indication of him being like that EVER before, it does seem odd to not consider that there are other drivers.

What drivers? I don't know. Personality conflict with Miles? Lack of confidence in Miles going forward? Or, something completely off the radar that we can't even guess?

Honestly, I just don't buy that suddenly at his age, Chavis became a fickle bitch.
