The conservative/republican mindset that has gripped LA politics as of late is to blame with Jindal leading the way.

If we are one of the richest in average alumni why does it matter what our academic rank is

There weren't any gains, FWIW.

I'm confused as to why the endowment is only around 400MM. Didn't O'Keefe launch a campaign to raise like 750MM?

LSU is Tier 1. As is LA Tech, BTW. That's a school doing more with less.

If the state doesn't want to fund the university properly, why should alumni? I benefitted greatly from the generosity of others and would like to donate when I'm in financial position to do so, but I would be very specific as to what I would donate toward.

Low admission standards are part of that ranking. I got the feeling that the top students at LSU could compete with almost any public school around the country, but there is a lot of deadweight. Kids with 20 ACT scores shouldn't be getting accepted.

You know, you are right. It's a poor attitude.

The university runs about as well as the athletic department. F. King Alexander appears to be the commonality between the two.

Because that stat won't stay that way given the current academics.
