So to you, beefense and the others who think everything is perfect:

What do you honestly think will happen if Florida, Bama or another team holds LF to 150 yards and 1 TD?

Do you honestly think, right now we would win that game?

LSU could throw for 500 next week and you would complain that LF didn't get his heisman touches.

yes because a similar complaint over our passing game for a decade means i'll just abandon it

god i wish we had problems like our 05-07 passing game

the sample of adequate passing is very small, but there is nothing different this year. i'd imagine that we're actually worse this year

How many TE targets were there the entire last year? How many catches?

You can't even concede that TE production has been tremendously improved in the first 4 games this year?

Seriously?

that doesn't affect our pass blocking issues,

We haven't looked great in pass blocking - we've given up a sack on roughly 7.5% of our passing attempts - but given the low sample size (67 attempts counting sacks), it is hard to know if that is just an anomaly or if it will be a long term problem.

Harris did rise to the occasion. He was the least of the problems last night.

We abandoned the pass because our WRs couldn't catch and it was keeping a terrible EMU team I. The game.

No offense, but if you don't believe that Ole Miss and Florida front 7 are capable of stopping our run, then I don't know what to tell you.

The way our passing game is right now if Florida or Bama holds LF to 120-140yds and 2 TDs we will lose.

i think their focus is on the wrong things, is based in fear, and leads to inefficiency in passing that has prevented LSU from winning a national title since jimbo's QBs left

Have you spoken to Miles about this? Or Cameron? They know the issues better than you do. They probably know issues you never even thought of.

Your assumption, based on nothing, that more efficiency in passing would have meant more titles in the past or more in the future is laughable. Honestly it is.

jeter has 4 catches. D has 1. i assume they have 6 targets b/c of the layout on jeter

we had 2 TE receptions through similar games last year but i know desean dropped some of his targets

we're talking about probably a difference in 2, maybe 3 targets. over 4-5 games that's not exactly striking

Yes, I do. I have seen nothing from either of those teams that makes me think we cannot beat them.

Florida's defensive strength is their secondary. The SEC Rant is full of Florida posters who are terrified of the matchup Fournette and the LSU style present.

Ole Miss gave up 215 yards on the ground to Alabama (5.1 yards per attempt) and that is actually higher than Alabama's rushing yard per game average for the season.

We can run on every team on this schedule with the exception of Alabama, and the jury is still out there. It will be strength against strength.

LOL again at the idea you know more than Miles or Cameron about anything. Especially football. Its comical.

Good point. Only a coach would be able to see that LSU has problems with its passing game. Miles, and Harris by extension, are just trolling the LSU fans and the rest of the SEC. There is an entire playbook that hasn't even been opened yet. Just wait.

We have the equivalent of a RS FR at QB and Zeus at RB

It is clear that CC spends a lot of time with BH on managing the plays, the clock, the LOS and the formations in their 20 hrs per week of allowable practice time. The passing game took a backseat to what was needed now for LF.

It is clear to me that the game is still too fast for BH and he isn't comfortable. The best way to fix this is reps, film study, more reps and more film. At some point we hope it clicks and the game slows down for BH to the point where he sees the field, knows where to go with the football and puts it there for his WRs to catch it.

We are invested observers of a complicated development process and no matter how much we bitch and moan it is going to take as long as it takes. If any of you feel like BH is the wrong guy to play QB or CC is the wrong guy to teach him then you have a legit complaint. But you don't have perfect information to base that off of, just the games and that is only part of the process

But your complaints won't change anything

The full on obsession some of you have with passing while ignoring the fact that the team may end up being one of the best running teams in history is amusing at this point.

I doubt the 2015 LSU rushing attack will statistically rank as one of the top 10 rushing attacks in college football history. If we are only going to pass for 80 yards a game, then we would have to be one of the best rushing teams in college football history if we want to win a championship.

It shows that I have watched this head coach year after year struggle in the passing game and it has cost him mightily when it mattered most. His 80% run game will allow him to beat the average teams each season, but it sure doesn't help us beat the elite teams. The guy's track record shows that he will lose at least 2 games in every season, except the one season he had a once in a blue moon combination of defense and special teams to cover the inept offense.

here is the thing

even the best rushing attacks can be stopped with numbers

our complete inability to pass allows teams to improve their numbers

teams like UF and Ole Miss don't have to "stop" our rushing. they just have to slow it a bit and due to the nature of rushing, we will have issues. if our D continues to be suspect, we allow the opportunity to get behind. being a rushing team playing from behind is...not ideal

that's the issue with being so 1-sided, especially with that side being rushing. if we have a bad game and shite the bed in a half and are down 2 scores in the 2nd half, we're in some deep shite unless we can pass

If they don't respect our passing ability, both of those teams, as well as the other SEC teams except for maybe SC, will stack the box with 9 and will most definitely be able to stop, or at least limit, the run.
