the playoff is wide open this year.

TCU, Ok State, OU, Baylor all play each other, who knows what could happen there. What if OU wins out and they compare our 1 loss with theirs? OU lost to Texas, LSU playoff team Bama.

It is possible that 1 or 2 loss team can win the big 10, or there could be an unbeaten team.

ACC could lose their conference championship, Florida State could beat Clemson

Note Dame could lose @ Stanford

Florida Could beat Bama, leave out LSU who is the only team to beat Florida?

We need to win Bama but our season is far from over if we lose to Bama. Chances aren't great but we still have ALOT to play for.

The loss Saturday could be that mythical quality loss LSU has been looking for. Bama has it down.

That's EXACTLY why Bama got a second chance. Quit whining about Bama. They get the benefit of the doubt because everyone thinks they're the best. This is so because they win more than anyone else.

Let's not get too crazy. LSU was the only two-loss team to ever play for the BCS title. It's not exactly stacked against them.

Nope. We lose, we probably drop out of the top 10. Bama loses, they may drop out of the top 5, but probably not.

Better question would be, if we lose to bama and beat ole miss do we jump to #4?

Unfortunately I still would think no. But that's how it goes. Bama always get the benefit of the doubt.

We are winning the game, so it doesn't really matter.

Pure and simple - if LSU and Bama were to trade records and teams played as of this date, Bama would be ranked #1 or #2 and LSU would be in the bottom end of Top 10 if not lower - no way they would be #4 even if scores, exact plays and eye test were reversed.....that is when you know Bama is getting credit that no one else gets. The only comparison in past history would be the Annual Lovefest with OU/TX or OSU/Michigan in decades past when they were the dominant teams in their conferences.

So if we lose to Bama (not happening)....will the brilliant minds that select the rankings move us to #4 since they think a one loss Bama to ole piss is worthy of a top 4 spot?

I think LSU wins this weekend, BUT if we happen to lose a close one to them, there is a silver lining: their reward will be going to the SECCG already with one loss against what will be a very motivated and capable Florida team. Lose there and they are done and Florida is likely in.

If LSU loses to Bama in a close one then wins out, we will make a very, very strong case for one of those 4 spots while avoiding Florida in the SECCG. I think it's very possible two one loss SEC teams could make the playoffs this year with LSU getting in while circumventing the SECCG.

I understand what you're saying here, but the fact of the matter is that Bama has zero room for mistakes. LSU has some leeway and the means to get to the final four without beating Bama this weekend. If we don't win, we have to keep it very close, though.

Depends on what happens with the other top teams.

A virtually universally-recognized national champion with two losses just eight years ago, and WE get no second chances?

Get a grip, folks.

LSU will beat Alabama by 10 or more. I'm more worried about us slipping up somewhere else tbh

A close loss to Alabama in no way knocks LSU out of it. That's just typical LSU paranoid, persecution complex fan thinking.

However, LSU will win this weekend. I have my eye on Ole Miss, A&M and Arkansas as the real "must wins".

Yup. Just win out. I never thought I would say this, but Florida got shafted. They will move up due to their schedule, and hopefully we see them again. That being said, what happens if Florida wins the SEC championship and both only have one loss? As we all know it is hard to beat the same team twice in one season.
I feel like the small 12 will beat each other up like the SEC does and will be a non issue.
